EAGAN HISTORICAL SOCIETY
TUESDAY
MARCH 2, 2010
3:30 p.m. – EAGAN ROOM
Members present: Dawn Simpson, Kim Hazel, Mary Ellen Voracek, Joan Remick
Kennedy, Millie Gignac and Ted Ringberg. Also present was Communication Coordinator Joanna
Foote.
Dawn Simpson chaired the meeting as neither Chair or Vice-Chair were in attendance. The
meeting was brought to order.
MARCH 5 – STATE OF THE CITY INVITATION
Foote introduced the item noting March 5, 2010 is the State of City Address which is being
held at the Eagan Community Center and stated the Eagan Historical Society members are
encouraged to attend.
UPDATE ON PHOTO/VIDEO PROJECT
Foote and the Committee discussed list of interviewees to participate in the photo/video
project. Below is a list of interviewees names discussed:

OTHER EVENT REQUESTS
Foote stated that numerous requests have come in for Historical Society
involvement and/or requests for photos at a number of events scheduled throughout Eagan’s
Sesquicentennial year. She noted that a PowerPoint has been created featuring a number of
Historic photographs which can be made available for functions throughout the year. Specific July
4th photos from the Historical Society collection have been made available to that group and they
have created a display for their use at public events in 2010.
She also noted she will search for a photo of Sperry she received from Gignac when there was
vacant land across the road.
The Committee discussed other City events and involvement requirements. A list of upcoming
events include; the Home and Leisure Show, Lake Fest (June 12 – participation request), Eagan
Art Fest and the Eagan Funfest. The Committee reviewed dates for 150th events.
HISTORICAL SOCIETY EVENT DATES
Foote noted the open house dates include June 13, September 16 and 19, and October 24.
Foote stated the October Haunted Places Event will be October 24; 1:00 p.m. will be the open
house and 2:00 p.m. will be a presentation. She further stated the Dodd Road sign dedication will
be scheduled for some time this spring. Foote mentioned the video premier will be scheduled this
fall; possibly October 14 as a part of the Eagan 150 Gala/Taste of Eagan event being planned.
Foote stated she will put together a calendar of events for the Committee for reference.
NEXT HISTORICAL MARKERS
The Committee discussed Starks/Halfway House photos, Patrick Eagan Park and the
McCarthy Farm.
NEXT MEETING DATE
The next meeting of the Eagan Historical Society will be Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at 3:30 p.m.
