Document - Historical Society Minutes - Eagan Historical Society Minutes 06012010 - 6/1/2010MEETING NOTES/MINUTES EAGAN HISTORICAL SOCIETY TUESDAY JUNE 1, 2010 3:30 p.m. – EAGAN ROOM Members present: Millie Gignac, Bernie Jansen, Gin Knight*, Bea Blomquist, Dawn Simpson, Kim Hazel, Ted Ringberg and Mary Ellen Voracek. Also present was Communication Coordinator Joanna Foote. DODD ROAD SIGN UPDATE Foote introduced the item stating the Dodd Road sign was complete, but was the incorrect size and is in the process of being reframed. It was agreed at the July meeting to set a date for the dedication sometime in August. The committee discussed dates and the possibility of an ice cream social. Ringberg will check with his daughter-in-law regarding the ice cream social event. HISTORICAL TOUR UPDATE Foote introduced the item stating the Historical Tour Event is planned for June 10, 2010 starting from the Eagan Community Center at 8:45 a.m. and will end approximately at 1:45 p.m. Foote described the route of the tour including stops for lunch at Stark’s. PHOTO BOARD FOR LAKE FEST Foote announced the Lake Fest event is June 12, 2010. The Committee discussed the photo board which will be present at the event. JULY 4TH / 1860 FAMILIES UPDATE Foote introduced the item stating the 1860 census is on the City’s Web site. The Commission discussed Eagan families to contact. Grand Marshals – Foote stated the 4th of July Grand Marshals are Martin DesLauriers, Don Holz, and Don Chapdelaine. She also stated all three have accepted the invitation. Foote stated they will also be asking Ted Wachter and Alyce Bolke to participate as a Grand Marshals but neither were sure they would be in town. Pancake Breakfast – The Committee discussed inviting the descendants of 1860 families to the Patriot’s pancake breakfast on July 4th at the festival grounds. The Committee discussed times and cost for the breakfast. Blomquist made a motion to hold an 1860’s breakfast table at the pancake breakfast on the 4th of July from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; Gignac seconded the motion. All members voted in favor. The Committee discussed details of the pancake breakfast; and further discussed additional tables to display/sell books and playing cards. VIDEO PROJECT Foote stated there will be an update on the video project at the July 6, 2010 regular meeting. OTHER Foote discussed dollars in this year’s budget for a new Old Town Hall sign. The Committee discussed the logo for the new one-sided sign and they will finalize the details at the July 6th, 2010 regular meeting. ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 4:42 p.m. *NOTE: the Tuesday following this meeting, Gin Knight passed away. The notice and information regarding her service and her life is attached. Many members were present at the visitation and service. The family asked that donations in Lieu of flowers be directed to the Eagan Historical Society.
