Document - Historical Society Minutes - Eagan Historical Society Minutes 02012011 - 2/1/2011MEETING NOTES/MINUTES EAGAN HISTORICAL SOCIETY TUESDAY FEBRUARY 1, 2011 3:30 p.m. – EAGAN ROOM Members present: Millie Gignac, Ted Ringberg, Mary Ellen Voracek, Kim Hazel, Dawn Simpson, Joan Remick Kennedy, Lori Tripp, Jean Janssen, Alyce Bolke, Linda Myhre and Linda Bendt. Also present was Communication Coordinator Joanna Foote. MEETING MINUTES & SECRETARY The minutes of the December 7, 2010 meeting were distributed to the Committee for their review. Kim Hazel was the meeting Secretary for the February 1, 2011 meeting. TIME CAPSULE UPDATE Foote introduced the item and stated the Time capsule had been filled and provided to the contractors for installation at the new Fire Safety Center. The dedication date is still to be determined. Ringberg talked about the Fire Department history timeline that will be on the wall near the Time Capsule and display area. HISTORICAL MARKERS Foote introduced the item and the Committee was shown the completed art for the Robber’s Ravine historic marker that will be installed at that park in the spring. DONATIONS ACCEPTED / TO CONSIDER The Committee discussed several items the Committee is being offered and is considering as a donation to the Eagan Historical Society. Simpson made a motion to regretfully decline model of Christ Lutheran Church due to a lack of storage space or location to display this large an item. Kennedy seconded the motion. All members voted in favor. Ringberg stated that he has a DVD of the “Under the Tree” song and stated the author is willing to write a song relating to the City of Eagan. There was positive feedback from the committee. The DVD will be scheduled to view at the next meeting. OTHER Simpson discussed land grant information she received from Dakota County and specifically noted (1855) John McCarthy selling half of his property to his brother James. This information may be used in the Historical marker for Patrick Eagan Park as it is the former McCarthy property denoted in these land grant papers. ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned by unanimous consensus of the Committee at 4:47 p.m.
