EAGAN HISTORICAL SOCIETY
TUESDAY
JUNE 7, 2011
3:30 p.m. – EAGAN ROOM
Members Present: Mary Ellen Voracek, Martin DesLauriers, Millie Gignac, Bernie Jansen, Ted
Ringberg, Kim Hazel, and Lori Tripp. Also present was Communication Coordinator Joanna
Foote.
MEETING MINUTES & SECRETARY
Joanna Foote was the meeting Secretary for the June 7, 2011 meeting. The minutes of the May 3,
2011 were approved by consensus.
RECAP SHOWCASE EAGAN EVENT
It was suggested that the Historical Society produce a larger sign with the open house dates for
future Showcase Eagan Events. The committee addressed that many attendees/vendors did not
know about the food tickets.
The committee discussed feedback that the 150th Pin was the best thing one attendee received
while attending Showcase Eagan 2011.
TOWN HALL BENCH & SIGN INSTALLATION/DEDICATION AND SPRING TOWN
HALL OPEN HOUSE – SUNDAY, JUNE 12 OPEN HOUSE 11 A.M. – 1 P.M. &
THURSDAY, JUNE 16 OPEN HOUSE 4-6 P.M.
Bernie, Ted, Lori, and Kim plan to be at the Open House Thursday. Ted and possibly Kim are
available Sunday. It was discussed that the cleaning will occur at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 10,
2011.
It was suggested that the committee obtain information on what year Gin started working with
the City of Eagan.
Foote informed the committee that she will obtain the cookies and lemonade for the dedication
and Open House activities.
The committee discussed the voting booth that had been stored in the old Fire Administration
building and has now been moved to the 1914 Town Hall. Questions were raised in regards to
when and where the booth was originally used. The committee determined if the information
could not be found than they would likely get rid of the booth.
FIRE SAFETY CENTER DEDICATION JUNE 23
Foote indicated that all members were welcome and encouraged to attend and that many of the
Fire Department retirees would be staffing the History area in the new Fire Safety Center.
OTHER
The July meeting was considered for omission due to the July 4th holiday (regular meeting would
fall on July 5). Foote indicated that members might be interested in attending events at the
Funfest on July 3rd as this has been designated Patriotic Day. Dick Carrol, among other veterans
are parade Grand Marshalls and Dick will be presenting a talk about his WWII experiences that
day. There will also be a dedication of the Military service statue at the service memorial plaza at
Central Park.
NEXT MEETING
The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at 3:30 p.m. at the Eagan Room
located at the City of Eagan Municipal Center.
ADJOURNMENT
Martin made a motion to adjourn the History Committee meeting. Bernie seconded the motion.
All members voted in favor.
