Committee will decide before the end of September if they would like the Blomquist donation of a baby crib
(Herb Polzine’s) and school desk. Members would love to acquire but are unsure where they could be stored
and displayed. Blomquist will head to Arizona in Spetember so needs to know before she leaves.
Past Eagan firefighters Denis Craven and Ed Englehart passed away. Hazel and Ringberg attended the
Celebration of Life for Denis Graven who passed away July 26, 2013 at the age of 73.
Carl Goers also passed away on July 24, 2013 at the age of 88. DesLauriers attended the service and spoke
about the family. He said that Henry Goers (Carl’s father?) purchased/leased property located at near Patrick
Eagan Park and he recalled that during the War the family had five stars in the window for each family
member presently serving. He also indicated that Eddie Goers still lives across from City Hall On the northeast
corner of Pilot Knob Road and Wescott.
DesLaurier also indicated that at the funeral he spoke with Elizabeth Iverson who is age 91. He recommended
that she should be interviewed for our historical purposes. Foote will work with him to coordinate.
Foote took photos of a display on a recent visit to a historical building. She thought this would be a good
option to display some of the school or farm family information at the 1914 Town Hall. It was simply framed
poster panels secured vertically on lath, affixed to a wall, secured with hinges. A photo of the display is
included with the minutes.
At the July meeting, included with the agenda and minutes were Ringberg’s typed notes and pictures relating
to the Helling family property near Pilot Knob and Cliff Road. Ringberg stated that he went to high school
with Cliff Helling and he ran into him recently and got this information and the photos.
