Document - Historical information/data - Historical Society Report to Dakota County Historical Society Board - 8/1/2014Eagan Historical Society Report to DCHS Board – August 2014 Update on 1914 Town Hall Recovery /Transition Planning Mid-August, internal staff met with the architects to discuss the options and feasibilities of moving the 1914 Town Hall building to the Eagan Municipal Center campus. Three various options and associated costs were presented. In early September, a City Council workshop will be held and the options presented for further discussion and direction. A separate space needs assessment is being conducted for Eagan departments within City Hall and the Police Facility. The Historical Society needs, beyond the 1914 Town Hall display space, have been included with in this assessment. 1914 Town Hall 100 Year Celebration – Monday, September 8, 4 – 7 p.m. The Eagan Historical Society has been making plans to commemorate the 100 Years of the 1914 Town Hall. A Celebration is planned for Monday, September 8 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the 1914 Town Hall site at the southwest corner of Pilot Knob Road and Wescott Road, in Eagan. The event will include free root beer floats, period games and music, history displays, food for purchase and more. An original oil painting depicting the 1914 Town Hall by artist Landis has now been completed. It will be formally donated to the Eagan Historical Society during the event at 6:30 p.m. The members asked Martin DesLauriers to accept it on behalf of the EHS as his father’s milk truck is portrayed in the painting. Numbered canvas prints will be and paper prints will be available for the general public to purchase and/or order at the event with proceeds coming to the Eagan Historical Society. Pricing will be determined shortly. All members of the Dakota County Historical Society, its Board members and staff are welcome and encouraged to attend. Passing of Alyce Bolke Alyce Bolke, Eagan’s first female Town Clerk who served the Township/City from 1960-1980 passed away on August 1, 2014 at the age of 96. She may be remembered by some Dakota County Board and staff members through her work in coordinating City elections throughout those years.
