Document - Historical Society Minutes - Meeting Minutes - 7/10/2012MEETING NOTES/MINUTES EAGAN HISTORICAL SOCIETY TUESDAY July 10, 2012 JOINT MEETING WITH HOLZ FARM FRIENDS 3:30 p.m. – EAGAN ROOM Members present: Kim Hazel, Martin DesLauriers, Lori Tripp, Ted Ringberg, Bernie Jansen, Dick and Jean Janssen. Also present were Friends of the Farm members: President Norm Peterson, Directors Joel and Linda Kline, Treasurer Dorothy Peterson, Secretary Bob Lane, and Communication Coordinator Joanna Foote. MEETING MINUTES & SECRETARY The minutes from June 5, 2012 were approved and accepted. BOOK PROJECT AND PHOTO ACQUISITION UPDATE Author Hoistington has been working to completing interviews.????? MEETING WITH HOLZ FARM’S FRIENDS OF THE FARM Introduction of Friends of the Farm members and description of their involvement: • Linda Kline – interpreter for butter churner • Dorothy Peterson – staff to volunteer after much discussion on 1940’s era • Joel Kline – helped refinish floors, got involved after a clean up day • Norm Peterson – builds things – got a grant for a hayride loading ramp wheel chair accessible • Bernie Jansen – also on DCHS Board, Jansen shared that the Lockheed surplus computers & artifacts will go to So. St. Paul museum in September and will be on exhibit on main floor • Kim Hazel – grew up in Eagan, worked for the City of Eagan • Martin DesLauries – in 1960 became Chief of Police? • Ted Ringberg – original resident of Cedar Grove, charter member of Fire Dept • Lori Tripp – retired from Eagan Police Dept. Communication Coordinator Foote gave a brief update on the Eagan Historical Society’s missions and initiatives. Foote also noted that the Friends of the Farm have three main events held at Holz Farm per year – the Spring Festival, Lone Oak Days and Old Fashioned Holiday. Also mentioned were the clean up day, 15 community garden plots, summer youth camps and the annual meeting held in November. It was suggested that the Historical Society have a booth at Holz Farm during events with possible items such as: displays from Town Hall, information or photos from the 1940’s era, a walking tour booklet or a history display of the historical markers. NEXT MEETING The next regular meeting scheduled for Tuesday, August 7, 2012 has been cancelled. Instead the group will plan to attend the Dakota County Fair sometime during the week of August 6-12, 2012. ADJOURNMENT _______ made a motion to adjourn the History Committee meeting and ________ seconded the motion. All members voted and adjournment was at ______ pm.
