HISTORICAL SOCIETY BUSINESS
1914 Town Hall Display Reassembly & Open House Prep
Foote noted at the post May 3rd meeting Hough asked about having additional handicapped parking
signs on site for the open house. Foote laid out the plans for the parking lot to include a portable toilet,
and handicapped/limited mobility parking.
Tripp provided an update of the progress on displays, cleaning and set-up. Foote updated the group on
the display system which has been installed in one section of the north wall. Ringberg gave an overview
of the open house plans and volunteer jobs/needs.
Foote noted we should be thinking about the invitations for the September 8th Recognition Event and
asked for volunteers for a small planning group. She noted she’ll work on the invite list that will include
Fire, Police, Lion’s and donors. The group agreed to send out an invitation by e-mail. It was suggested to
send out a “Save the Date” now, and then follow up with the invite later. It was decided the event
would run from 5-7 p.m. with cookies, coffee and lemonade being served. Further details will be fleshed
out at the July meeting.
Consider Extending Meeting Time
Foote noted at the last meeting it was brought up to extend the meetings. Everyone was in agreement
to keep attempting to end meetings by 5:00 p.m.
Historical Society Shirts
Member Tripp provided an update on the shirts.
Additional Display
Ringberg offered to make the poster for the July 4th event.
Foote noted Hough will be attending MarketFest on Wednesday and the LakeFest on Saturday to hand
out flyers to promote the open house.
DCHS Update
Oxley gave the DCHS update on reception at Sibley House, and noted negotiations with County on
Lawshe building are not going well.
Other
Hazel provided an article she cut out of the May 13, 2016 Sun Thisweek “From the Archives” showing
youngsters who rode on their neighborhood’s rocket-themed float in Eagan’s Fourth of July parade. (Did
Ringberg submit to paper?)
