Garrision.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Minutes of the January 3, 2017 meeting were accepted with changes submitted by Joe Reid.
HISTORICAL SOCIETY BUSINESS
Update on March 4 Community Connection Event
Ted Ringberg noting it was a nice event but not too busy. It was suggested to bring A-frames out of
booth to view; people didn’t watch the video. Kim Hazel noted many people had not seen the Lone Oak
Tree photo.
TOWN HALL UPDATES
Plaza Project
Communications Director Tom Garrison provided an update on the project noting the Plaza donation
was accepted in January. Drew Sternal, LA Ink, was hired for the design, fabrication and installation of a
plaza, benches and marker display at Old Town Hall. The Historical Society is being asked to provide any
copies, photos or information on Tom Hedges that should be included on the sign by April 8. Ideas for
the sign – information regarding the arson damage, image of first City Hall (where Tom Hedges worked).
Foote will compile and submit information.
Display Needs
Discussion was held regarding displays needed at the Town Hall and potential styles and topic areas.
Ringberg suggested a farming display. Foote indicated that the Intern has compiled some information
she will bring for review and modification. The group also discussed making some of the temporary
(outdoor) sign information available inside the Town Hall in a higher quality, more appropriate fashion.
Oxley and the group discussed the possibilities of planting an Oak Tree on the site. Foote and others
indicated that this idea had been discussed when Ted Wachter passed away. The discussion was tabled
until April.

DCHS UPDATES & AFFILIATE NOTES
Gregg Oxley gave a DCHS update noting DCHS is looking to see if Rosemount would consider a position,
such as Joanna’s, for their historical society.
OTHER
Kern Hough asked why EHS does not have more of a presence at Holz Farm. Members responded to the
question indicating that dates and availability did not typically seem to align. Members can/should
discuss more specifically for 2017 but much of the issue seems to be that our focus is primarily the Town
Hall and the Friends of the Farm focus is primarily the Farm location and neither can be brought to the
other, effectively. Foote suggested that members could bring the outdoor display signs to Holz Farm
events if we wanted to request an area at their Spring and Fall events to represent EHS.
NEXT HISTORICAL SOCIETY MEETING
The next regular meeting is scheduled for April 11, 2017 at 3:30 p.m.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 5:40 p.m.
