TOWN HALL UPDATES
Plaza/Sign Project
Communications Coordinator Foote noted at Old Town Hall, city maintenance staff has begun working
on the sidewalk and will be pouring a pad for the portable toilet which will be enclosed using the same
materials as Old Town Hall.
The plaza project will get underway soon and work should be completed by early June. Foote showed
the group an example of the sign text and images that will be used on the new marker sign.
Foote noted Town Hall open house dates have been set for 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, May 4 and May 11.
The Sunday, June 11 open house will not likely include a plaza dedication, as she has not been able to
confirm the date with Mr. Hedges.
Memorial Oak Tree
Communications Coordinator Foote noted the City Forester will be walking the property to determine
placement for a Bur Oak tree. Preliminary costs would be $600-$800.
Displays
Foote noted she gave Ted Ringberg information the intern compiled for the farming display. Ted gave a
recap on the farming display possibilities. The group also discussed scavenger hunt items. Other display
topics discussed: transportation (railroads, steamboats, and early roads), elections, education/schools
(maybe in the fall) Joe Ried offered to compile this display. Foote noted we have a large map of 1896
and could have a display with an overlay of property owner names/streets now through the years. The
group decided to meet on April 25 from 2-4:00 p.m. at City Hall – to pull photos of farms and schools for
displays.
