ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENT ADVISORY COMMISSION

MINUTES OF MEETING OF June 13, 2017
A regular meeting of the Eagan Energy and Environment Advisory Commission (EEAC) was held on
Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the Eagan City Hall. Those present were Member Oxley,
Member Fleenor, Member Dugan, Member Mirick, Member Trzpuc, Member Supina and Member
Pottorff. Those absent were Member Prabhakar. Staff members present were Assistant Director of
Parks and Recreation Jared Flewellen.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Member Oxley asked if there were any changes to the agenda. Assistant Director Flewellen stated
there were no changes. Member Mirick moved, Member Farlee seconded, with all present members
voting in favor to adopt the agenda as presented. Aye: 7 Nay: 0
APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES
Member Fleenor moved to approve the minutes from April 12, 2017 meeting, Member Mirick
seconded, with all present members voting in favor to adopt the minutes presented. Aye: 7 Nay: 0
VISITORS TO BE HEARD
There were no visitors to be heard at this time.
NEW BUSINESS
New Members
Assistant Director Flewellen introduced two new members to the commission; Member Stefnee Trzpuc
and Member Mike Supina.
Election of Officers
Member Dugan nominated Member Oxley to the Chair position of the commission with no additional
nominations, with all present members voting in favor to approve appointment. Aye: 7 Nay: 0
Member Dugan nominated Member Fleenor to the Vice Chair position of the commission with no
additional nominations, with all present members voting in favor to approve appointment. Aye: 7

Member Dugan nominated Member Mirick to the Secretary position of the commission with no
additional nominations, with all present members voting in favor to approve appointment. Aye: 7
Nay: 0
Market Fest Dates
Member Fleenor promoted the Eagan Market Fest Health and Wellness night which the EEAC will be in
attendance. The EEAC table will have information regarding energy efficiencies. Member Fleenor also
mentioned that additional dates are available if the commission is interested.
PRESENTATIONS
Dakota Electric
Tim Doherty and Tyler Kashdan from Dakota Electric gave a presentation on the variety of energy
saving programs that both residential and commercial businesses can enroll in.
Xcel Energy
Yavonne Pfeifer from Xcel Energy gave a presentation on the variety of energy saving programs that
both residential and commercial businesses can enroll in.
STAFF REPORTS
Directors Report
Assistant Director Flewellen shared that the City of Eagan was recently recognized as achieving
GreenSteps level 4 status.
Assistant Director Flewellen shared a report from the City of Minnetonka on their findings regarding
Goat Grazing and the pros and cons it had on their sample area.
ROUND TABLE
Member Oxley expressed his interest in having the next meeting offsite to tour a different facility.
Member Oxley also asked if the commission if they City of Eagan should have an zoning ordinance
regarding solar energy.
ADJOURNMENT
After further brief discussion, Member Mirick moved, Member Pottorff seconded with all members
present voting in favor to adjourn the meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 8:28 p.m.
