01/12/2017 - Energy and Environment Advisory CommissionCity of Eagan MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENT ADVISORY COMMISSION Wednesday, April 12, 2017 MINUTES OF MEETING OF April 12, 2017 Approved 6-13-17 A regular meeting of the Eagan Energy and Environment Advisory Commission (EEAC) was held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the Eagan City Hall. Those present were Member Prabhakar, Member Oxley, Member Fleenor, Member Dugan, Member Mirick and Member Pottorff. Those absent were Member Hamlin and Member Friedline. Staff members present were Parks and Recreation Director Andrew Pimental and Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation Jared Flewellen. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Member Prabhakar asked if there were any changes to the agenda. Director Pimental stated there were no changes. Member Pottorff moved, Member Dugan seconded, with all present members voting in favor to adopt the agenda as presented. Aye: 6 Nay: 0 APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES Member Oxley moved to approve the minutes from February 14, 2017 meeting, Member Fleenor seconded, with all present members voting in favor to adopt the minutes presented. Aye: 6 Nay: 0 VISITORS TO BE HEARD Avery Hillebrand from Conservation Minnesota invited commission members to attend the Dakota County Water Forum on May 6, 2017 at the Eagan Community Center. PRESENTATIONS Power ED Sheri Rosenthal and Mark Steven Apfelbacher from Connect Ecology gave a presentation on how the City of Eagan could incorporate practices in their energy policies to receive the Green Steps Level 4 & 5. The presentation covered the core metrics of the program and how to approach the tasks using people, process, and performance as focus areas. Energy and Environment Commission April 12, 2017 Page 2 Small Group Reports Member Fleenor shared information from the group's research, which included Member Oxley, regarding promotion and marketing of materials. An outline of tasks to focus on in 2017 was created and an action item was presented. Member Fleenor moved, Member Mirick seconded, with all present members voting in favor of marketing commission tasks at various Market Fest dates. Aye: 6 Nay: 0 STAFF REPORTS Directors Report Director Pimental shared that the application for Green Steps Level 4 is in process. Member Oxley moved, Member Mirick seconded, with all present members voting in favor of City Council considering the implementation of the Green Steps Level 4 application. Aye: 6 Nay: 0 ROUND TABLE Member Fleenor asked staff to research Xcel Energy and Dakota Electric speakers to present at an upcoming meeting. Member Prabhakar thanked the two members who were at the end of their terms for their service on the commission. ADJOURNMENT After further brief discussion, Member Oxley moved, Member Mirick seconded with all members present voting in favor to adjourn the meeting.
