MINUTES OF MEETING OF February 14, 2017

A regular meeting of the Eagan Energy and Environment Advisory Commission (EEAC) was held on
Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the Utilities Water Treatment Plant. Those present were
Member Prabhakar, Member Oxley, Member Fleenor, Member Dugan, and Member Pottorff. Those
absent were Member Hamlin, Member Friedline and Member Mirick. Staff members present were
Parks and Recreation Director Andrew Pimental, Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation Jared
Flewellen and Superintendent of Utilities Jon Eaton.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Member Prabhakar asked if there were any changes to the agenda. Director Pimental stated there
were no changes. Member Oxley moved, Member Fleenor seconded, with all present members voting
in favor to adopt the agenda as presented. Aye: 5 Nay: 0
APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES
Member Prabhakar asked if there were any changes to the agenda. Member Oxley moved, Member
Potoroff seconded, with all present members voting in favor to approve the regular meeting minutes
of December 13, 2016. Aye: 5 Nay: 0
VISITORS TO BE HEARD
There were no visitors to be discussed at this time.
PRESENTATIONS
Water treatment systems and operations
Superintendent of Utilities Jon Eaton presented information on the City of Eagan water system and
how it works. Topics of information included wells, ground water, the two treatment plants and
comparable statistics to other local cities.
Alliance for Sustainability

Sean Gosiewski, Executive Director of Alliance for Sustainability gave a brief presentation on energy
planning resources for cities in Dakota County. Sean Gosiewski also provided information on what
cities can do for next steps to have energy goals implemented into their next master plans.
Small Group Reports
Member Prabhakar asked to table this discussion till the April meeting due to time. Member Oxley
moved, Member Fleenor seconded, with all present members voting in favor of tabling the discussion.

Directors Report
Assistant Director Flewellen shared the staff report as well as presented updates on past projects
discussed with the commission.
STAFF REPORTS
Special Events
Director Pimental gave an update on two new special events and asked for participation in Community
Connection from Commission members if available.
April Meeting
Director Pimental informed the commission that the next regular meeting date fell on a holiday and that City
Council had moved their meeting that fell on the same night. Commission members suggested moving the
meeting to the same date that City Council moved to. As a result, the April meeting will be moved from the 11th
to the 13tH
ADJOURNMENT
After further brief discussion, Member Oxley moved, Member Fleenor seconded with all members
present voting in favor to adjourn the meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 8:44 p.m.
