09/19/2017 - Energy and Environment Advisory Commissionr 1 r r ,r �r �w err EAGAN ESTABLISHED 1860 WORSHOP MEETING MINUTES OF THE ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENT ADVISORY COMMISSION Tuesday, September 19, 2017 WORKSHOP MINUTES OF SEPTEMBER 19, 2017 A workshop meeting of the Energy and Environment Advisory Commission (EEAC) began at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 and concluded at 8:28 p.m. Those present were Member Oxley, Member Fleenor, Member Dugan, Member Pottorff, Member Trzpuc and Member Supina. Those absent were Member Mirick. Staff members present were Director of Parks and Recreation Andrew Pimental, City Planner Mike Ridley and Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation Jared Flewellen. Workshop agenda included discussion of sustainability and resiliency with the City Comprehensive Plan and 2017-2018 EEAC goals. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Member Oxley asked Director Pimental if there were any changes to the agenda. Director Pimental stated there were no changes. Member Fleenor moved, Member Trzpuc seconded, with all members present voting to adopt the agenda as presented. Aye: 6 Nay: 0 APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES Member Fleenor moved, Member Trzpuc seconded, with all present members voting in favor to approve the minutes of the August 8, 2017 regular meeting, as presented. Aye: 6 Nay: C NEW BUSINESS Sustainability and Resiliency City Planner Mike Ridley explained the checklist used for the upcoming City Comprehensive Plan. The Checklist titled "Local Planning Handbook" us the guideline used for the separate city departments to use as a tool as they outline their specific areas. Discussion of solar power ordinances in Eagan followed the conversation on future steps to updating ordinances. Energy and Environment Advisory Commission September 19, 2017 Page 2 Commission Goals Commissioners discussed and agreed on goals for the 2017-2018 commission year from the prior meeting's list. The commissioners chose three goals as well as volunteered to be on sub- committees for each goal. The three goals chosen were: 1) Research core metrics to obtain Green Steps Level 5. Member Supina and Member Trzpuc 2) Research and recommend policies and ordinances regarding solar resource protection and development. Member Dugan, Member Fleenor and Member Oxley 3) Provide community outreach and education regarding energy and environmental issues. Member Dugan, Member Fleenor, Member Pottorff and Member Trzpuc ADJOURNMENT With no further business to discuss, Member Dugan moved, Member Pottorff seconded with all members present voting to adjourn the meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 8:28 p.m. Secretary Approved 12-12-17 Date
