06/12/2018 - Energy and Environment Advisory Commission�1 EAGAN ESIABLISHEO 1860 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENT ADVISORY COMMISSION Tuesday, June 12, 2018 MINUTES OF MEETING OF JUNE 12, 2018 A regular meeting of the Eagan Energy and Environment Advisory Commission (EEAC) was held on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the Eagan City Hall. Those present were Member Oxley, Member Fleenor, Member Dugan, Member Trzpuc, Member Supina, Member Ziese, Member Miller and Member Mirick. Staff members present were Director of Parks and Recreation Andrew Pimental and Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation Jared Flewellen. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Member Oxley asked if there were any changes to the agenda. Director Pimental stated there were no changes. Member Dugan moved, Member Fleenor seconded, with all present members voting in favor to adopt the agenda as presented. Aye: 7 Nay: 0 APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES Member Trzpuc to approve the minutes from April 10, 2018 meeting, Member Supina seconded, with all present members voting in favor to adopt the minutes presented. Aye: 7 Nay: 0 NEW BUSINESS Introduction of New Commissioners Assistant Director Flewellenl welcomed new Commissioners Ian Ziese and Stacy Miller to the commission with a brief introduction and background of her interests and relation to Eagan energy and environmental efforts. Election of Officers Assistant Director Flewellen called for nominations for the three commission positions: Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary. Energy and Environment Advisory Commission June 12, 2018 Page 2 Member Dugan moved, Member Fleenor seconded, with all present members voting in favor to approve Commissioner Oxley for the Chair position. Aye: 7 Nay: 0 Member Trzpuc moved, Member Supina seconded, with all present members voting in favor to approve Commissioner Fleenor for the Vice Chair position. Aye: 7 Nay: 0 Member Dugan moved, Member Supina seconded, with all present members voting in favor to approve Commissioner Mirick for the Secretary position. Aye: 7 Nay: 0 Introduction of 2018-2019 Goals Director Pimental asked commissioners to introduce potential goal topics for 2018-2019. Goals will be refined during the July workshop. Commissioners compiled the following: - Maintain GreenSteps level 5 status - Recognition of Community Groups for environmental impacts - Support additional educational topics and promote past educational topics further - Plastics reduction - Outreach for volunteers in parks - Zero waste - Electric vehicles - City Energy Goals / Climate Action Plan - Light pollution - Reducing carbon - Partners in Energy program with Xcel Energy OLD BUSINESS GreenSteps Director Pimental gave an update on the commission goal for Green Step Level 5, stating the city had reached the Level achievement. DEPARTMENT UPDATES Commissioner Fleenor discussed the EEAC role in Market Fest on Wednesday, June 20. Commissioner Fleenor asked for volunteers to assist in presenting information to the public. Director Pimental presented Department Highlights from recent activities in the Eagan Parks and Recreation Department. Energy and Environment Advisory Commission June 12, 2018 Page 3 ADJOURNMENT After further brief discussion, Member Fleenor moved, Member Mirick seconded with all members present voting in favor to adjourn the meeting.
