05/09/1989 - City Council SpecialMINUTES OF A Subject to Approval CITY COUNCIL A special meeting of the Eagan City Council was held on Tuesday, May 9, 1989 at 6:30 p.m. at John Metcalf Junior High School. Present were Mayor Ellison and City Councilmembers Egan, Custafs.on.,and;Wachter. The purpose of the meeting was to convene the annual Board:::;t%K::::....a1# a£iQi «meeting on behalf of Dakota County. Also present was City AdministXtor Hedges. BOARD OF EQUALI2*TION MEXTINC Mayor Ellison called the aiiip"feet' t ::;&V the Board of Equalization to order and provided a brief review and breakdown of the taxes that are payable• to each taxing authority within the three school districts. He made reference to the handout that was prepared by the City staff that provides a history of market value'and taxes payable in each of the school districts based on a 1990 market value of $103,000 for a single family home. Mayor Ellison introduced Bob Renner, attorney and consultant:. -for -the Municipal Legislative Commission, who explained how the distribution of':14cA :government aides to outstate communities are impacting the increase in property':td*:::to:::Wmburban communities such as Eagan. Following the Mayor's brief introduct3.on andi '. Renner's comments, the meeting was turned over to Mr. Bill Peterson:::tepresentls4g:::the Dakota County Assessor's office. Mr. Peterson told the audiCtiee of approximately 500 Eagan residents that first he would provide discussion and answer general questions relating to property tax valuations and then handle questions on a one to one basis. After responding to several questions from the citizens in attendance, the general meeting portion of the Board of Equalization was adjourned.
