MEETING MINUTES OF JUNE 15, 2020
A workshop meeting of the Advisory Parks & Recreation Commission (APrC) began at 5:30
p.m. on Monday, June 15, 2020. Commission Members present included Member Palmer,
Member McWilliams, Member Klein, Member Moore, Member Hough, Member Pagey,
Member Rayman and Member Schuetzle. Staff members present Parks and Recreation
Director Andrew Pimental and Assistant Parks and Recreation Director Jared Flewellen.
WORKSHOP DISCUSSION
Commissioner Status Update
o Director Andrew Pimental updated commissioners that will conduct interviews
later this month and will start appointments in August. He also expressed his
appreciation for their continued service.
Public Art Update
o Director Andrew Pimental updated the status of the "larger' public art piece
located at the water treatment plant. Due to the location of a water tank, the
original site was moved 20'. The "unveiling" of the piece will be coordinated with
Art Block
o The smaller art pieces will be installed throughout the summer.
Facilities Update
o Assistant Director Jared Flewellen went through the recreational facilities to
update the commission on their status and details on reopening plan:
■ Cascade Bay — Closed for 2020
■ ECC — Opened for meetings and fitness center as of June 10
■ Civic Arena — Opened for private rentals as of June 7
■ Art House — Open for scheduled clay sessions only
■ Splash Pad — Tentatively scheduled for opening June 22
Recreation Update
o Director Andrew Pimental discussed recreational programs and congratulated
staff on managing programs for the summer.

o Woodhaven: Tree removal and stump removal complete, 95% of the trees
removed were ash and boxelder, Erosion control and tree protection fence
installation 90% complete. Tennis court nets have been removed and courts
closed due to construction in the area.
o Bridle Ridge: Final asphalt lift and striping is complete. Backfill dirt work is done
and basketball hoop installation begins tomorrow week. Color coating of the court
will be in August/September. Park staff will seed and plant trees when time
allows
o Civic Center Park: Sidewalk sub -grading complete. Base class 5 prep for
sidewalk is set and the limestone blocks/outcropping work began today.
Concrete contractor is scheduled for June 24.
o Sky Hill Remodel: FRP is done in hallway and restrooms, FRP installation will be
installed this week in the main room. Siding contractor to begin this
week. Finalized roofing contract with standing seam style metal and accessible
walk prep work will begin early July.
ROUNDTABLE
Commissioner Klein expressed appreciation for the Discover At Home catalog and the fiscal
responsibility of the department.
Commissioner Schuetzle asked questions on how weddings are being handled with refunds
and rescheduling.
Commissioner Rayman asked about the status of the Woodhaven All Inclusive Playground.
Commissioner McWilliams asked about construction at Cascade Bay as well as distribution of
Discover Eagan at Home.
Commissioner Pagey expressed her gratitude for the trails and how well they have been
maintained during this time.

Commissioner Palmer appreciated the trails, sidewalks and connections.

With no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 6:40 p.m.
