01/28/2019 - Advisory Parks & Recreation CommissionREGULAR MEETING MINUTES OF THE ADVISORY PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION Monday, January 28, 2019 MEETING MINUTES OF JANUARY 28, 20'19 A regular meeting of the Advisory Parks & Recreation Commission (APrC) began at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 28, 2019. Commission Members present included Member Michael Palmer, Member Jerry Farlee, Member Nathan Neuman, Member Aileen Hough, Member Linda Klein, Member Molly Schuetzle, Member Dorothy Peterson and Member Anita Pagey. Staff members present Parks and Recreation Director Andrew Pimental, Recreation Supervisor Julie Andersen and Assistant Parks and Recreation Director Jared Flewellen. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Member Palmer asked Director Pimental if there were any changes to the agenda. Director Pimental stated there were no changes. Member Klein moved, Member Peterson seconded, with all members present voting to adopt the agenda as presented. Aye: 7 Nay: 0 APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES Member Neuman moved, Member Schuetzle seconded, with all present members voting in favor to approve the minutes of the December 17, 2018 workshop meeting, as presented. Aye: 7 Nay: 0 PRESENTATIONS Fisheries Management in Eagan Water Resource Specialist, Jesse Koehle presented various wetland and fishing information for the City of Eagan. Topics included water quality, fishing locations, types of fish and program opportunities. NEW BUSINESS Community Connections Advisory Parks & Recreation Commission January 28, 2019 Page 2 Director Pimental provided information for the Community Connections event on March 2. Director Pimental also passed around a sign up sheet for commissioners interested in participating in the event. Public Art Program Director Pimental and Recreation Supervisor Julie Andersen presented information on upcoming art events and programs as well as discussed future public art applications. Ideas included: • Larger benches • Clustered seating benches • Northview softball art • Public can participate in the art bench process • Events around Public Art • South Water Treatment major piece • Commercial / Industrial Developments • Art on fishing piers • Grinding designs on sidewalks • Planters • Graffiti board • Solar panels • Bike Station Art • Story walk • Silhouettes outside of ECA STAFF REPORTS Department Highlights Director Pimental presented Department Highlights from recent activities in the Eagan Parks and Recreation Department. ROUNDTABLE Member Schuetzle promoted Community Connections event and the upcoming Forestry landscaping classes on May 13 & 15. Member Hough commented on how public art bench submittals are a great variety.
