Osberg, City Administrator Date: January 22, 2021 Subject: January 26, 2021 City Council Retreat Overview A City Council retreat is scheduled for Tuesday, January 26, 5:30 p.m. at the Eagan Community Center (Oaks Banquet Room). The Senior Management Team (SMT) will join the Council for the retreat. Everyone will have their own table and chair, which will be spaced out across the room to ensure social distancing. Everyone is asked to wear a mask for the duration of the retreat, understanding it may be removed when speaking. Due to Covid precautions, food will not be served at the retreat. Everyone is encouraged to eat before they arrive. If you would like, feel free to bring in your own “box lunch” and drink. Enclosed on page 3 is an agenda for the evening. The intent of the retreat is for the Council and SMT to get to know one another a bit better and for the Council to share their reflections, aspirations, and goals as we start this new year. The agenda includes some thought-provoking questions to help get the conversation started. Please look at these questions as mere suggestions. You are welcome to share your unique perspectives, knowing there are no plans to go around the room responding to each induvial question as listed. The Council asked to speak about Acting Mayor, committee appointments, and commission liaison assignments at the retreat. Enclosed on pages 4 and 5 is a listing of 2020 committee appointments, commission liaison assignments, and affiliate organization roles. I am looking forward to hearing from the Council and engaging in a conversation about the year ahead. Six trustees must be elected from the membership of the relief association and three trustees must be drawn from the officials of the municipality served by the fire department to which the relief association is directly associated. The three municipal trustees must be one elected municipal official and one elected or appointed municipal official who are designated as municipal representatives by the municipal governing board annually and the chief of the municipal fire department. In addition to Fire Chief Scott, the annual designations have been the Mayor and the Director of Finance. 5
