AIRPORT RELATIONS COMMISSION WORKSHOP MEETING
JULY 24, 2018
A meeting of the Eagan Airport Relations Commission was held on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at 6:00 p.m.
Those present were Charles Thorkildson, Joseph Axmacher, Michael Johnson, Dan Johnson, Debra
Dulligner, Theresa Hughes and Assistant City Administrator Miller. Philippe Girard and Jeff Spartz were
absent.
AGENDA
Commissioner D. Johnson moved, Commissioner M. Johnson seconded a motion to approve the agenda
as presented. All members voted in favor.
VISITORS TO BE HEARD
Five residents addressed the Commission with concerns about aircraft noise over Eagan.
PREPARATION FOR AUGUST 27 MAC LISTENING SESSION
The Commission discussed the upcoming MAC Listening Session being held on Monday, August 27, 6:30
p.m. at the Eagan Community Center. The Commission developed a series of questions they will ask the
MAC staff and FAA to address at the meeting.
REMOTE MONITORING TOWER LOCATIONS AND COVERAGE
The Commission discussed the current location of the MAC Remote Monitoring Towers (RMT) in Eagan.
There was consensus to make a recommendation to the City Council to ask the MAC to install temporary
noise monitors to document the noise level resulting from aircraft in the areas just outside of and on the
edge of the current RMT perimeter area. The Commission suggested the mobile towers be installed in
both the fall and late spring/early summer to determine the seasonality of the noise. Assistant City
Administrator Miller noted she would share the recommendation with the Council and schedule the
item on a future City Council meeting consent agenda. Pending approval by Council, the request would
be made to the MSP Noise Oversight Committee in September 2018.

There was no other business to be heard.

Upon motion by D. Johnson, seconded by M. Johnson the meeting adjourned at 7:00 p.m. All members
voted in favor.
