01/25/2021 - Advisory Parks & Recreation Commissiona 16 s nm �+es EAGAN E6iAYLI611EU 1060 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE ADVISORY PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION Monday, January 25, 2021 MINUTES OF MEETING OF JANUARY 25, 2021 A regular meeting of the Advisory Parks & Recreation Commission (APrC) began at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 25, 2020 virtually. Commission Members present included Member McWilliams, Member Klein, Member Moore, Member Schuetzle, Member Hough. Member Pagey and Member Rayman. Member Power was absent. Staff members present Parks and Recreation Director Andrew Pimental, Facility and Projects Manager Chris Fleck and Assistant Parks and Recreation Director Jared Flewellen. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Member Klein asked if there were any changes to the agenda. Director Pimental stated there were none. Member Pagey moved, Member Hough seconded, with all present members voting in favor to adopt the agenda with changes. Aye: 7 Nay: 0 There were no visitors to be heard. VISITORS TO BE HEARD PRESENTATIONS Jessie Koehle, City of Eagan's Water Resources Specialist, gave a presentation explaining why Eagan is such a great place for fishing, how the City engages the public with fishing outreach and environmental stewardship messages, and how the lakes are monitored and managed. Koehle highlighted the fishing amenities and activities Eagan offers; 9 fishing piers, 15 lakes, 1 public drive-in boat launch, 9 information kiosks, low-cost fishing clinics year round. Advisory Parks and Recreation Commission January 25, 2020 Page 2 NEW BUSINESS Public Art Director Pimental introduced the 2021 Public Art projects. Pimental shared an overview of the timeline, large projects and small projects like art benches. A sub -committee was formed to review the locations and pieces that included Commissioner Klein, Commissioner Schuetzle, Commissioner Rayman, Commissioner Power and Commissioner McWilliams. ROUNDTABLE Member Power— Holiday Meal Pick-up for 50+ community -just want to applaud staff for providing such a lovely amenity for our senior residents. I'm really glad people took advantage of it. Member McWilliams — South Oaks Park juniper plantings could use attention along with the swings. Member Hough — Sky Hill Park amenities are much improved. DEPARTMENT UPDATES Assistant Director Flewellen presented highlights from recent activities in the Eagan Parks and Recreation Department. Flewellen also went through additional guidelines from the most recent Executive Order. ADJOURNMENT After further brief discussion, Member Rayman moved, Member Hough seconded with all members present voting in favor to adjourn the meeting.
