Melinda – See my responses below.
1. We aren’t putting a fence in between our yards. No. We are surrounding our two properties
with the 4’ fence.
Is the plan to enclose the entirety of the two back yards with no fence along the
common property line?
That is correct. Yes, our dogs play together.
2. There are existing fences of our neighbors, so we are not doing all of the property lines, rather
where there aren’t any fences.
Do the dashed lines represent the existing fence and the solid line represent the
proposed fence?
I just revised. The dashed lines are proposed fence, the solid lines are existing fence. I also drew arrows and circles
showing start and stop points with dashes in between. (Sorry I tried to choose a color that stood out)
3. You want me to take those docs and make up the proposed fence line?
You can use either the site plans that were provided or if you want to use a simple ariel
of the two properties, see attached.

Hi Mike,
Thank you for your response.
Just to clarify:

2. There are existing fences of our neighbors, so we are not doing all of the property lines, rather where

Dear Melinda and Heather – I received your Zoning Permit request, but I’m
having a hard time following the proposed site plan that was provided within the
Zoning Permit.
Will the 4-foot fence essentially connect the two back yards? Is the purpose to
provide a “dog run” type area for the two homes? Understanding this is an
unusual request between two properties.

Upon my research I noted there is a stormsewer pipe that runs through both
properties, but primarily through 708 Calvin Court (see below map and the
attached site surveys). I have an email into City Engineering to determine if they
have any concerns as the pipe is owned and maintained by the City; note the
easement that encumbers both properties.
Using the two site surveys, merge the two surveys to form a single site plan (you
may need to reduce the size and merge them in order to fit onto standard or
legal sized paper). From there show where the proposed fence will be placed on
the property (is the fence only to extend half the distance to the rear property
lines?). Also confirm if there will NOT be a demising fence line along the shared
property line.
If I hear back from City Engineering on any concerns I will relay that back to you.

I’m o.k. with a chain link fence in the easement with the following conditions:
The easement is proposed in a drainage and utility easement and is subject to the terms of the easement (anything in an
easement is at your own risk)
Access for maintenance and repairs of the side yard storm sewer and rear yard catch basin must be maintained at all
times.
Drainage cannot be restricted to the rear yard catch basin.

Aaron – I’m having a hard time understanding the applicant’s request, but during my review I noticed there is
a 12” stormwater pipe going through one of the lots. The site plan also notes to “maintain swale” through the
property.
From what I can tell on the Zoning Permit the two homeowners want to constructed a shared fence (maybe a
shared dog run) between the two properties; I have an email to the two of them to provide clarification.
Is there a concern to install 4-foot chain link fences across the stormsewer easement?
