Other numbers you may want to
make note of:
Check the Skating Rink at least once
every five minutes. A quick look over
the ice will spot trouble if its in
the making!
KEEP THESE OTHER POINTS IN MIND:
1. .: Please do not lend your key except
to other authorized attendants.
2. Report severe abuse of the facilitic:
and any suspensions made to Mrs.
McPherson or another member of the
WCAO Skating Committee.
3. SHOVEL snow by hand if cirvenient,
necessary, and if duties in the warrj
house allow.
4. Cooperate among yourselves to assure
constant coverage during the autho-
ized "open" hours.
5. LUNCHES can be eaten on duty. You
may drink canned pop, eat candy bars
and pop corn, etc. No beer drinking.
6. No SMOKING by attendants or skaters.
7. No Cooking on the heater.
8. STUDYING, etc., is permitted if the
warming house and pond are being
used by only a few skaters. BUT
not to the extent that it excludes
attention to your primary duties.
9. Try to SWEEP and "PICK UP" from
time to time to keep the floor
clean and the warming house in a
somewhat orderly and neat condition.
10. In an emergency, tfcthe regular
attendants cannot work, prior per-.
mission from a WCAO Committee mem-
ber must be received before a
substitute attendant not approved.
by the Town Board can be used.•
11. Try to keep the benches back
against the walls where they be-
long. Moving the benches out
sometimes blocks the doorway.
12. You may use your personal radio or
record-player for music.
- 13 -
13. Do not open the warming house for
skaters other than the authorized
hours.
11:. If you CLOSE EARLY because of severe
weather, snowstorm, below -zero
temp's, etc. please notify Mrs. Mc
Pherson of the WCAO Skating Committee.
15. TIME SHEETS ,hould be brought to
Patrolman Jay Berthe who will turn
them into Mrs. Bolke, Town Clerk. Try
to get them in as soon after the
last day of the month as possible.
16. REPORTING EXTRA HOURS: The Eagan Tcwri
Board has offered to pay the salary
if a ss^c.rd attendant is necessary
during hours of peak use. These hours
should be reported separately; call
Mrs. McPherson to ask how to report
them.
17. HEATER: The heater may be left on
"low" during the night.
OOP
5
SPECIAL ATTENTION should be given the
very young skaters and warming house
users; try to see that they aren't
pushed around. If one is struggling
to put skates on or take them off
a little help from you will not take
you away from overseeing the house
too long. Match for them on the ice
to see that they aren't tripped, etc.
* * *
IMPORTANT: Notify the parents immedi-
ately of any injured skater. Use good
first -aid rules in moving the injured
person off the ice. Designate an older
skater to stay with the injured skater
while you use the emergency telephone
to notify the skater's parents.
THEN: Notify Mrs. McPherson of the name
of the injured child and what action
WAS taken by the attendants.
* *
Children sliding on the hill in Cedar
Pond Park may also use the warming house
to warm up; but try to discourage
those who are just "hanging around':
* * *
6 -
USE YOUR AUTHORITY if necessary. If a
skater gets out of line, cite the rules
of the rink and warming house. Be sure
to give them proper warning before
hand. If the abuse continues, use the
suspension rule. Suspend from 1 to 7
days according to the severity of the
abuse.
You may find the following paragraph
helpful in citing reasons for users to
take care of these facilities:
"The warming house and upkeep of the ice
are made'available throughthe efforts
of the Women's Community Action Organiza-
tion and Eagan Township. Destroying
these facilities' through vandalism,
carelessness, or thoughtlessness exhibits
poor community spirit and tends to des-
troy community self-respect. Help keep
these facilities open by taking care of
them as if they were your own."
* * *
GOOD LUCK MENl WCAO appreciates all your
efforts with this community projectl
