06/21/2021 - Advisory Parks & Recreation Commission MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE ADVISORY PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION Monday, June 21, 2021 MINUTES OF MEETING OF JUNE 21, 2021 A regular meeting of the Advisory Parks & Recreation Commission (APrC) began at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 21, 2021. Commission Members present included Member McWilliams, Member Klein, Member Hough, Member Schuetzle and Member Palmer. Member Moore, Member Jacobs, and Member Rayman were absent. Staff members present Parks and Recreation Director Andrew Pimental, Parks Maintenance Supervisor Charlie Fischer, Parks Operations Supervisor Paul Watry and Assistant Parks and Recreation Director Jared Flewellen. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Member Klein asked if there were any changes to the agenda. Director Pimental stated none. Member McWilliams moved, Member Schuetzle seconded, with all present members voting in favor to adopt the agenda with changes. Aye: 5 Nay: 0 APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES Member Schuetzle moved to approve the minutes from May 17, 2021 meeting, Member Hough seconded, with all present members voting in favor to adopt the minutes as amended. Aye: 5 Nay: 0 VISITORS TO BE HEARD There were no visitors to be heard. NEW BUSINESS Capital Improvement Plan Director Pimental introduced the two Capital Improvement Plan for 2022 as well as a brief recap for 2021 that are currently in development. All projects are funded by the Park Dedication Fund, which is funded through Eagan developments. 2022 Capital Improvement Projects include: Advisory Parks and Recreation Commission June 21, 2021 Page 2 • Rahn Park Phase II • NE Eagan Pocket Park • Playground Replacements • Goat Hill Rink • Northview Maintenance Building • Public Art • Small Projects (Sun Shelter, Bike Racks, Fiber Surfacing Replacements, Dog Park Upgrades) PRESENTATIONS Parks Presentation Charles Fischer, City of Eagan’s Parks Maintenance Supervisor and Paul Watry, City of Eagan’s Park Operations Supervisor gave a presentation on the different subdivisions of the Parks team. The division covers maintenance and operations of greenspaces, athletic fields, playgrounds, courts, irrigation, rinks, shelters and maintenance machinery. ROUNDTABLE Member Palmer – Compliment staff for work done at Woodhaven Park. Member Schuetzle – Echoed the compliments of staff for all the work done for Woodhaven. Member Klein – Commented on parks maintenance attention for details. Member McWilliams – Is excited for her family park trips this summer. Member Hough – Complimented staff for quickly reopening parks and activities. DEPARTMENT UPDATES Director Pimental presented highlights from recent activities in the Eagan Parks and Recreation Department. ADJOURNMENT After further brief discussion, Member Schuetzle moved, Member Palmer seconded with all members present voting in favor to adjourn the meeting.
