Thank you for your time today Miles, I appreciate your time, your concern, and your efforts to
ensure safety for our staff and volunteers while our space is under construction.
Per our conversation, our team began enacting changes this afternoon to our staging of volunteer
help during the limited times we need to access our temporary storage space
The activity that caught the eye of the City official was during the receiving of a large holiday
donation and we brought in a group of volunteers to help us get it sorted and stored on pallets for
easy relocation into our new leased space once construction is complete. Armed with our new
understanding of the fire suppression system limitations due to the absence of ceiling tiles, we have
worked with our General Contractor to designate a space in the warehouse area of the new leased
space for the sorting of nonperishable items which can then be moved for temporary storage by
staff. This will ensure that on the limited occasions this type of activity is needed our staff and
volunteers will be utilizing a space with active fire suppression and clear of any additional safety
concerns.
This was not an ideal time for our construction project as we are blessed with a community of
businesses and faith groups that are being remarkably generous with holiday food drives. The last
two years we have “borrowed” churches to receive these donations as do not have space in our
current locations to accept all the generosity! Hence the need for this new space
Staff will also do all we can to limit our need to access the temporary storage space prior to the
completion of our new space which is expected before December 23rd.
Our general contractor has also indicated that much of the necessary work in the warehouse space
has been completed, and as it is safe to do so we will conduct any necessary temporary work in the
safer finished part of the warehouse.
Thank you again for your time, your proactive work on behalf of our staff and volunteers’ safety, and
the many ways you make Eagan a wonderful place to live and work
