Highway department plans
call for the grading and
bridges phase of the Inter-
state Hwy. 35E work in Da-
kota County to be let in
August 1970 and the paving
construction to be let in
April 1972.
The entire contract for In-
terstate Hwy. 494 bridge over
the Minnesota River is to be
let iri April 1970. The esti-
mated $7.2 million cost now
includes no exit or entrance
ramps at Hwy. 5.

ways at the Mendota Heights -
Eagan T o w n s h i p border is
The Lexington Freeway, a
major highway starting in St.
Paul and continuing s o u t h
along the West. St. Paul -
South St. Paul border, cur-
rently is programmed
through Inver Grove Heiights
to Hwy. 55.
The freeway is expected to
be completed to Hwy. 55 in
1972 or 1973, about the same
time as the two interstates,
and will carry Hwy, 3 traffic.
Ellsworth Johnson, Dis-
trict 9 engineer, said Inter-
state Hwy. 35E from W. 7th
St. in St. Paul to downtown
St. Paul is expected to be
completed in 1972 or 1973.
