04/11/2023 - Eagan Historical Society Eagan Historical Society Recap of Lawshe Museum S. St. Paul April 11, 2023 Present: Jodi McMaster, Mary Ellen Voracek, Lori Tripp, Lynae Gieseke, Pat and Sue Geagan, Kathy Jansen, Leslie Chudnoff, Dawn Simpson, Jack Kennelly, Karen Mackey and Kim Hazel Meeting called to order 11:10am Historical Society Business New Business: Matt Carter Director of the Dakota County Historical Society gave us a tour of the Lawshe Museum. He spoke of the various upgrades they did to the building remodel project, displays that they have changed, the technology that has been added to the meeting room so that the meeting can be displayed virtually and in person, bathrooms were brought up to code for handicapped individuals, a new elevator was installed, the parking lot was regraded and configured for handicapped accessibility and various other things. We took notes on several new ways to display photos, text, etc. One was called Second Surface. An acrylic process that is chip resistance and very durable. Some huge pictures they had printed on cloth. Another way to hang light weight pictures or articles with a small surface that looked to attach to the wall with a 3M command type strip and a small push pin board. So, not to damage the walls at the Old Town Hall. They also had a quilt show at the museum. Many beautiful quilts were on display. The UNIVAC electronics/computer display that Bernie Jansen had helped create was there. The gift shop had many unique quilting items for sale. Old Business Reminder of OTH Spring Open House on Sunday May 7, 11AM-2PM Kim asked Rebecca Snyder, librarian for the Dakota County Historical Society and longtime Eagan resident about Timber Doodle Farms.
