Commission Members present included Member Rotty, Member Heimisdottir, Member Rayman, Member McWilliams, Member Costain, Member Klein, Member Hamlin, Member Palmer and Member Demartelaere. Staff members present was Director of Parks and Recreation Andrew Pimental and Assistant Director Jared Flewellen. APPROVALOFAGENDA Member Klein asked if there were any changes to the agenda. Director Pimental stated there was none. Member Palmer moved, Member Hamlin seconded, with all present members voting in favor to adopt the agenda. Aye: 7 Nay: 0 APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES Member McWilliams moved to approve the minutes from November 21, 2022 meeting, Member Demartelaere seconded, with all present members voting in favor to adopt the minutes presented. Aye: 7 Nay: 0 No visitors to be heard. No presentations at this time. VISITORS TO BE HEARD PRESENTATION OLD BUSINESS 2023 lic Art Advisory Parks and Recreation Commission January 23, 2023 Page 2 Andrew Pimental, Parks and Recreation Director presented three public art installation that have been available for public comment for the past 30 days per public art policy. - The following pieces are included in 2023 Public Art installations. o Large Project — installation late summer, early fall 2023 • "Little Daisies" sculpture by Justin Peters at Norse Park o HeART of Eagan — installation by June 15, 2023 • "Ice Flow" by Judd Nelson o Donation to be placed at Bridle Ridge Park by Dale Lewis Member Palmer moved to recommend to approve the Public Art pieces as proposed. Member Demartelaere seconded, with six present members voting in favor and Member McWilliams opposed. Aye: 6 Nay: 1 No new business at this time. NEW BUSINESS ROUNDTABLE Member Heimisdottir— Attended NYE Noon event and enjoyed herself. Member Klein — Enjoyed her registration experience online. Member McWilliams —Applauded the plow efforts throughout the city. Member Rotty— Looking forward to his daughter's 41' birthday at the Blast. Member Costain —Attended Goat Hill ribbon cutting event and appreciated the staff effort. Member Palmer — Appreciated the trail plowing that has been happening. Member Hamlin —Questioned how Goat Hill refrigerated rink process is going. Member Demartelaere —Questioned how well Spring Registration went. DEPARTMENT UPDATES Director Pimental presented highlights from recent activities in the Eagan Parks and Recreation Department. ADJOURNMENT Advisory Parks and Recreation Commission January 23, 2023 Page 3 After further brief discussion, Member Costain moved, Member Hamlin seconded with all members present voting in favor to adjourn the meeting.
