Commission Members present included Member Rotty, Member McWilliams, Member Hassen, Member Hamlin, Member Demartelaere, Member Costain and Member Palmer. Member Klein was absent. Staff members present was Director of Parks and Recreation Andrew Pimental and Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation Jared Flewellen. APPROVAL OF AGE.N Member Palmer asked if there were any changes to the agenda. Assistant Director Flewellen stated there were none. Member Costain moved, Member Rotty seconded, with all present members voting in favor to adopt the agenda. Aye: 7 Nay: 0 APPROVAL'OF MEETING MINlITE5 Member Demartelaere moved to approve the minutes from May 15, 2023 meeting, Member Hamlin seconded, with all present members voting in favor to adopt the amended minutes. Aye: 7 Nay: 0 No visitors to be heard. VISITORS TO BE HEARD PRESENTATION MRPA Awards of Excellence Director Pimental and Assistant Director Flewellen presented two Minnesota Recreation and Parks Association Awards of Excellence for the Goat Hill Park Outdoor Rink and the Rahn Park Improvements. Advisory Parks and Recreation Commission June 26, 2023 Page 2 OLD BUSINESS Recreation Facilities and Projects Update Parks and Recreation Director Andrew Pimental and Assistant Director presented the current status of the Recreational Facilities Plan projects along with other Capital Improvement Projects in progress. The update included a recap of the last couple months recent activities regarding the projects as well as a forecasted timeline moving forward. The projects discussed were the feasibility study being conducted at the Eagan Community Center by 110%, a covering/rood for the refrigerated rink at Goat Hill Park the Eagan Art House project, ECC gym and front desk projects, Slater Acres playground replacement and Norse Park public art and shelter installation. ROUNDTABLE Member McWilliams — Commented on Cascade Bay in regards to the positivity of the staff as well as the current status of the grounds which could use more attention. Member Demartelaere —Attended the Special City Council and requested more information on the Central Park Plan. Member Hamlin —Thanked staff for promptness of fixing park maintenance issues and appreciated all the staff around the adult softball leagues. Member Rotty —Commented on how his family enjoyed attending Big Rig Rally Member Costain — Mentioned on how he is looking forward to Fun Fest again this year. Member Hassen — Commented on how beautiful Lebanon Hills Park is and how fortunate we are to have that in Eagan. DEPARTMENT' UPDATES Assistant Director Flewellen presented highlights from recent activities in the Eagan Parks and Recreation Department.
