C.S.T. 4 on Ai i-shin1965, at which time they will be publicly opened and read aloud for the furnig of the follow- ing: One (1) Station Wagon type Police Car with correlated appurtenances. Specifications and proposal forms may be seen at the office of the Town Clerk, Town Hall, Eagan Township. Each bid shall be accompanied by a bidder's bond, certified check, cashier's check or cash deposit in an amount equal to at least ten percent (10%) of the amount of the bid which shall be forfeited to the Township in the ev6rit that the successful bidder fails to enter into a contract. The Township Board reserves the right to retain the deposits of the three lowest bidders for a period not to exceed 30 days after the date and time set for opening of bids. Payment will be by cash or check. Suppliers desiring a copy of the specifications and proposal forms may obtain them from the Township office. GENERAL: The specification includes the furnishing and delivery to the Town of Eagan, Dakota County, Minnesota and placing in operation, one (1) station wagon type police car complete with all specified appurtenances as described in these specifications. Under the alterna�e bid, shown on the ptoposal the bidder shall bid the game unit as under the base bid with the exception that the alternate bid shall include tinted windows all around rather than just the windshield. The bidder shall furnish only the latest models of new equipment now in pro- duction and which has demonstrated that it will satisfactorily perform the work to be done. Failure to comply with this will be cause for rejection. Each bidder must show that an adequate supply of parts is carried locally so as to be immediately available for repair of this equipment. He will also provide the Town Board with information to show that an adequate repair department with sufficient trained help is available to properly repair and main4ain this equip- ment locally. DESCRIPTION. The unit shall be a four (4) door, six (6) passenger station wagon, with fold down rear seats and operable rear to .J_gate. WHEELBASE: Shall be not less than 119.0 inches. ENGINE: The unit shall be equipped with an engine with a minimum of 250 horsepower, minimum 327 cubic inch displacement, and a four (4) barrel carburator. Engine must be capable of satisfactory performance while burning 90 octane regular gas. The engine shall be equipped with a heavy duty air cleaner and a heavy duty oil filter as recommended by the manufacturer. TRANSMISSION: The unit shall be equipped with a heavy duty automatic transmission compatible with the engine supplied. Gear ratio shall be as close to 3.45 to 1 as possible. Transmission shall be Cruisamatic, Powerglide or Torqueflite. COOLING SYSTEM: The unit shall be equipped with a heavy duty, high capacity radi- ator with thermostatically controlled, six (6) blade fan. &A41_ V v ply SUSPENSION SYSTEM: The unit shall be equipped with heavy duty police suspension with both front and rear heavy duty shock absorbers, external spring type. BRAKES: Heavy duty power brakes shall be included. Brakes shall be heavy duty police type, fade resistant. SP-1 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: Unit shall be equipped with a heavy duty, 70 amp. hr, battery, heavy duty 60 amp. alternater, Leozeneville type 2002 standard or equal and a Leeceneville type 3450 regulator The unit shall be wired for roof top type beacon light, however the light it- self shall not be included in the bid. Ignition wiring shall be waterproof. Noise suppression equipment shall be included and installed to eliminate radio interference. STEERING: Unit shall be equipped with heavy duty power steering. DIFFERENTIAL: The unit shall be equipped with a positive traction type differ- ential and rear axles. BODY: The following items are required on the unit: 1. Heavy duty foam rubber front seat. 2. Heavy duty front and rear floor mats, 3. Split, fold-down type rear seat, 4. Padded dash, padded dual windshield visors, arm rests on both front doors. 5. Rear view mirrors inside and outside on drivers 'side, 6. Door handles on inside of two front doors only. Cones ' shall be installed on both back door handle stubs. asp 7. Four standard hub caps. 8. Electric power window on tailgate. 9. Heavy duty aircraft type seat belts with buckle to buckle metal contact lock. WINDOWS: All windows in the unit shall be safety glass. Under the base bid the windshield shall. be tinted and the remainder of the windows shall be clear. Under the alternate bid all windows shall be tinted, LIGHT SYSTEM: Unit shall be equipped with the following lights: 1. Standard headlights, tail lights, andparking lights. 2. I.C.C. emergency flasher unit shall be installed on the standard turn signals to flash tail lights and parking lights simultaneously. 3. Standard turn sipp_ls. 4. Two (2) cowl mounted spotlights, one right and one left. Units to be 5 inch Unity or equal equipped with 13 volt landing light bulbs as supplied by National Bushing Company, Minneapolis. 5. Backup lights. 6, Separate switch allowing driver to turn off brake and parking lights separately. SP-2 7. Glove compartment light. 8. Dome light. 9. Auxiliary work light lamp, &11�10. Wiring shall be installed for roof beacon but the light itself is not to be included. INSTRUMENT PANEL: The instrument panel. shall include the following: 1. Illuminated temperature gauge, oil gauge and ampere gauge. These shall be conventional gauges. Indicating lights will not be accepted. 2. Speedometer. 3. Turn signal indicators. 4. Odometer, 5.- Clock. 6. Cigarette lighter. 7. A hand throttle shall be installed. SPEEDOMETER: The speedometer specified under these specifications shall be a certified police speedometer calibrated to within 3% accuracy at 100 mph. ALTERNATING SYSTEM: Before final acceptance of the unit the bidder shall have the system set up and adjusted by a competent alternator service company such as Northern Automative Company or equal. PAINTING: The unit shall be painted black with white front doors and white roof. Unit shall be lettered .in conformance to state specifications. Decals on the doors will be furnished and installed by the Township and are not to be included in the bid. TIRES: The bidder shall include in his bid the furnishing and installation of five �(5) tires and wheels for the vehicle. All tires shall be Goodyear Police Special, Lifeguard with inner safety tire or equal. Tire size shall be 7:60 x 15 minimum. MANUALS: The successful bidder 'shall furnish operators handbooks and lubrication charts and parts books including service and repair manuals. Manuals, parts books etc. must be delivered to the Town Clerk before final payment will be made. MANUFACTURER'S SPECIFICATIONS: No bid will be considered unless complete manufac- turer's published specifications and complete equipment lists are submitted with the bid. SP-3
