Document - Historical information/data - Dakota County Radio Communication Grant - 6/5/1973 (Eagan artment 379 A® St. Pau ¢; i. 55122 Martin ®esLauriers h" ko` Chief of Police. , f"' r ,,a 5 JUNE 1973 w m ;r TO: DAKOTA COUNTY CHIEFS OF POLICE FROM: CHIEF OF POLICE, VILLAGE OF EAGAN SUBJECT: Dakota County Radio Communication Grant On 4 June 1973, Ward Montgomery advised nae that the APCO Review Board approved the extra frequency for Dakota County (for Apple Valley, Farmington, Lakeville). Also, the total grant for Dakota:County's radio equipment is going to be $242,625. Of this, the various departments in Dakota County are going to be asked to come up with a total of $8,644 in cash. - This grant application must be signed through the county, however, because the county has the largest part of their soft-match to match this grant, it reduces everyone else's cash outlay for radios. If everyone purchasing radios through this grant paid $192.09 for each mobile radio, - we could come up with the cash needed for this grant. Here is a list of the,_,communities and haw; many mobile units they are purchasing Apple Valle; 3 Lakeville 4-- Farmington -'Farmington. 4 Rosemount 3 Dakota County 2 Hastings 6 Eagan 6 Inver Grove Heights 3 West St. Paul S`'` Mendota Heights 3 South St. Paul 6 Lilydale 2 Total A7 The Dakota County Sheriff's office is supplying most of the soft-match; therefore, Ward Montgomery feels that excluding their two units, :we would need a total of 45 mobile radios. By multiplying 45 times $192.090 we can come up with the total cash required. Each corrmnity must pass a resolution stating their total dollar allotment, which they would pay through the county. In turn, the county would then be the Grantee and supply the total cash needed. This must be done very soon because this Grant will go before Rogion G during the week of June 11th, and it will be before the Governor's Crime Commission during the third week of June. It is thought that sometime in July or August 23 DOTA COUNTY CHIEFS OF POLICE Page -2- Dakota County Fadi Communication Grant the Grant Application should be filed by Dakota County and approved.
