Your draft application indicates that you're interested in offering a short-term rental for part
of your home. Please note that the City of Eagan does not permit short-term rentals of
Less than 30 consecutive days. This restriction is outlined in the City's definition of a
dwelling:
Dwelling means a building, or one or more portions thereof, intended for residential
occupancy.
Residential occupancy means inhabiting the building, or any portion thereof, as a
household for a period of not less than 30 consecutive days.
Dwelling does not include rooms in motels, hotels, nursing homes, boarding houses,
motor homes, tents, cabins, or travel trailers.
Additionally, single-family attached and detached homes must remain as single-family
residences. While it is acceptable for roommates to share a single, free-flowing housing unit, it
is not permitted to divide a single-family home into multiple, separate dwelling units.
Lastly, please note that if the home remains owner -occupied, a rental license is not
