March 6, 1976
A Special Meeting of the Eagan City Council was held on i~~arch 6, 1976
at 8:00 a.m. at the Eagan City Hall. All members were present except
Councilman Smith. Also present was Loren L. Law and City Clerk, Alyce Bolke.
The meeting was called to discuss the revision of the position descrip-
tion and specifications for the City Administrator.
I'-lr. Law presented a revised position description which was approved
subject to a few minor changes and additions. A Resolution for subsequent
adoption will be prepared which will outline the duties of the City Admini-
strator.
It was unanimously agreed that a iiasters Degree would not be a require-
ment but the related experience should be as an Assistant in a larger com-
munity or as an Administrator in a smaller community. Specifications will be
drawn up for Council approval.
the following salary range and benefits were informally approved:
1. Salary range from X18,000 to w22,000 (14aximum 3;~2~F,000)
2. Travel - 12¢ a mile
3. Must be an Eagan resident or willing to relocate within a
reasonable time
I+. City will pay household moving expenses
5. City residence could be made available
It was further agreed that the Council will review the top 3 to 5
applicants and preliminary interviews ~~~ill be on a one to one basis. Second
interviews will be with both the applicant and spouse, if the applicant is
married.
A follow-up meeting with Mr. Law will be scheduled in approximately two
weeks.
James Horne, Architect appeared with preliminary sketches of additions
to City Hall for Folice and Administrative purposes and separate Police facility
located either on the present or future site. After discus9ion it was agreed
that Mr. Horne will prepare additional drawings for review which will
incorporate the many Council suggestions.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 12:00 noon.
