MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE EAGAN CITY COUNCIL
EAGAN, MINNESOTA
OCTOBER 25, 1977
A special meeting of the Eagan City Council was held on October 25, 1977 at
the Eagan City Hall at 6:00 p.m. at the call of the Mayor. All members were present,
and City Administrator Hedges and City Attorney Hauge were also present.
The Mayor requested that City Administrator fledges report on the last Metro
Stadium Sports Facilities Committee meeting on October 19, 1977. Mr. Hedges explained
that there was a 3 - 3 vote by the members of the Commission present whether to
remove Eagan as a potential site. The next meeting is scheduled for November 16,
and it is assumed that the issue will arise again at that meeting. Mr. Hedges stated
that a hearing has been scheduled by the Commission on November 10 in Eagan and that
an analysis of the Environmental Impact Statement will be completed and will be
explained at that hearing.
Mayor Polzin read a statement explaining the Council position to date and
indicated that Reverend Richard L. Krenzke of Trinity Lone Oak Lutheran Church and
Council members of Trinity Lone Oak Lutheran Church were requested to be present and
were present at the meeting. A number of other concerned parties were present and
a letter of October 14, 1977 from Rev. Krenzke and a letter of October 18, 1977 from
Merle Lohse addressed to Mayor Polain were discussed. Councilman Wachter distributed
two letters prepared by him and also a September 22 letter from Dayton-Hudson Cor-
poration to the Sports Facilities Commission was reviewed. Councilman Rydrych also
read a statement that he had prepared addressed to the Lone Oak Lutheran Church
Council.
The Mayor indicated that the purpose of the meeting was simply to review and
discuss the stadium issue particularly in relation to letters that had been sent to
him by the pastor and secretary of the church and the Council took no action.
The meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m. PHH
