MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE EAGAN CITY COUNCIL
EAGAN, MINNESOTA
NOVEMBER 29, 1979
A special meeting of the Eagan City Council was held
on November 29, 1979, at 7:00 p.m. at the City Hall. Those present
were: Councilmembers Egan, Smith, Wachter and Parranto. Also
present was City Administrator Hedges. Mayor Murphy was absent
for the field trip to attend an open house in Farmington sponsored
by Dakota County Electric Association.
DAKOTA ELECTRIC ASSOCIATION
All members of the City Council and City Administrator
Hedges attended an open house sponsored by the Dakota Electric
Association at their office in Farmington. Representatives of
Dakota Electric reviewed future power source, rate structures and
many other related topics at the meeting. There was no action
taken, the meeting was informational. The City Council meeting
then was resumed at the Eagan City Hall for the remainder of the
agenda. Mayor Murphy appeared and was present for the remainder
of the meeting.
PUBLIC WORKS - LOCAL 320 UNION NEGOTIATIONS
City Administrator Hedges provided an update on the status
of union negotiations with the Public Works Local 320 collective
bargaining unit. All language and wage issues were discussed;
however, no action was taken on the matter.
INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT -
HIGH SCHOOL MIDDLE SCHOOL LETTER--DT-INTENT
City Administrator Hedges stated that a site selection
committee appointed by the Independent School District 196 Board
of Directors is considering locating a high school and middle school
for the district within the City of Eagan. He stated that, more
specifically, the recommendation is for a site in the area of North-
view Elementary School. Members of the City Council expressed
their enthusiasm for locating a middle school and high school within
the community and further that, if a site is selected in the area
of Northview Athletic Field, the City would be more than willing
to cooperate with the School District for use of the complex.
In a motion by City Councilmember Smith, seconded by Councilmember
Wachter, all members voting in favor, the City Administrator was
directed to write a letter expressing the City Council's enthusiasm
for locating a high school and middle school for the district within
the City of Eagan, and further, that the City is most willing to
cooperate with the School District for a joint use of 50 acres
north of Northview Elementary School.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned
at approximately 11:00 p.m.
