MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE EAGAN CITY COUNCIL
EAGAN, MINNESOTA
AUGUST 30, 1978
A special meeting of the Eagan City Council was held on August
30, 1978, at 7:00 p.m. at the City Hall. Those present were: Mayor
Murphy, Councilmembers Egan, Smith, Wachter and Parranto. Also
present was City Administrator Hedges.
SELECTION OF A PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR
After reviewing several applicants for the position of Public
Works Director, the City Council narrowed the field of candidates
to four, holding interviews on August 26, 1978, at the City Hall.
After discussion on the matter, Wachter moved and Parranto seconded
the motion to offer the position of Public Works Director to Mr.
Thomas Colbert at a salary of $26,000 with a starting date of October
9, 1978, and an allowance not to exceed $1,000 for moving household
goods from their present residence in Minneapolis to the City of
Eagan. All members voted in favor.
1979 PROPOSED BUDGET
A special budget workshop session was held to discuss the
1979 proposed budget. This session was the second in a series
of meetings to be held to work on the 1979 budget. The Council
reviewed all departmental requests and directed the City Administrator
to revise areas where requests should be eliminated or reduced and
present a revised copy of the budget at the next budget session.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned
at approximately 9:30 p.m.
