07/19/1966 - Advisory Parks & Recreation Commission INFORMAL ]"n;:ETING EAGAN BOARD OF SUPERVISORS & EAGAN FARK BOAHD JULY 19, 1966 The Eagan Township Beard of Supervisors met informally with the J:.;agan Park Boord at the Town Hall on ,July 19, 1966 at 6:30 P.1;:. at which C~lairman Rahn and Supervisor Schwanz were present. Mr. Klein was absent. r'.:e:nbers of the Park Board present were Chairman Hichard Thorpe, Thomas ~terns, Jan l.~arien 8!1.d :2avis '.iestbrook. Also present was ,~ttorney ('aul Hauge. Chairman rtichard Thorpe explained that the Park Boord had visited several sites in Eagan Township for future park purposes ane found that the Holland Lake site which the ~ounty was interested in was the most desirable site due to the fact that this is the best lake in the Town for swimming purposesr They recommended that Eagan To\~ship acquire this park land. if possible and either keep it for a Town Park or turn it over to the County for a County Fark. He said the Boa,rd felt strongly that no further building permits should. be issued in this area. He further stated that they had viewed other sites which would be dmsirable for smaller park sites. They recommended that the Attorney check into the means hecessary for a Bond Issue for Park Purposes and further stated that Federal Assistance would not be granted unless a comprehensive plan of the Tewn were made. ~r. Thorpe also stated that some State Funds are available for Park Purposes but it was questionable whether we could obtain these. Chairman Rahn thanked the Park Goard for their many hours of work on this project and stated that the Ece.rd would consider their reCOffi- menda t ions. The meetinr,- adjourned at 7: 30 P .11:.
