The Annua 1 Town M~eting of Eagan Township, Dakota Ccunt~7, Minnes:>t:c
waS held at the town hall, County Road #31, on March 14, 1967. The m~eting
was called to order by Cle~k Alyce BoIke. After the election j~dges were
sworn in, procla~tion of opening of the polls was made at 10:00 o'clock
A" M. to elect one Supervi.sor for a term of three years and one Treaeare:;:-
for a term of two years. Other polling places for this Annual Election
were Precinct II - Bobby's on Highway #55 and Precinct III - Fire Station
on Rahn Road.
Polls were officially declared closed at 8:00 o'clock P. M. and the
judges proceeded to canvass th~ votes and deliver the results to the Clerk.
The results were as follot's:
For Supervisor -
Arthur Rahn - 3 year te~ . 654 votes
c. F. TUstra II 245 votes
Lloyd Johnson II 77 votes
Roger SperUng " 61 votes
'rhOtll8S Mohr " 23 votes
Arthur Rahn was declared elected.
For Treasurer - 2 year term - Herbert Polzin -
951 votes
Herbert Polzin waS declared elected.
For District Supervisor of Soil & Water - Stephen Delaney - 46 votes
Clerk Alyce BoIke called the business meeting to order at 9:00 o'clock
P. M. Nominations were requested for a Moderator.

Ted Wachter nominated James Klingel to serve as Moderator, second~d
by Herbert Polzin. There being no further nominations, Donald Christi~nson
moved that the nominations be closed, seconded by Robert T4ttle and mOLion
carried. Mr. Klingel was duly sworn in as Moderator and thereafter presid€d
at the meeting.
Martin Shields moved to dispense with the reading of the Annual Minutes
of 1966. seconded by Herbert Polzin and motion carried.
Robert Tuttle moved to dispense with the reading of the minutes of
the regular Board meetings for the past year, motion secon1ed by Jan Marien
and motion carried.
Police Chief Martin DesLauriers reported to the people on the activities
of the Police Department for the past year and also informed them as to
the requests he had made for the l'olice Budget for the coming year. A copy
of this was placed on file with the Clerk.
Fire Chief Van Engen reported to the p~ople on the activities of the
Fire Department for the past year. stating they bBve4 vehicles, 33 train~d
firemen which make up day and night crews. Twenty men have their advanced
First bid . Certificate and 13 men have the Standard First Aid Certificate.
He also informed them of his budget requests for the coming hear and a copy
of this was placed on file with the Clerk.
The Clerk read the Annual Audit Report. Jeanne Beaudette moved to
accept the report as read, motion seconded by William Miller and moticn
carried.
The Clerk read the proposed budget. Discussion followed.
Kenneth Erickson moved that the Board do everything possible to fulfill
the budget requests of the Police Department for the coming year, motion
seconded by Timothy Wenzel Bnd motion carried~

Jan Marien moved that a mimeographed detailed list of estimated revenues
Bnd proposed expenditures be prepared for future years to enable the people
to better understand the proposed budget) motion seconded by Arthur Meyer
and carried.
Jeanne Baeudette moved that the Board of Supervisors enlarge the Fire
Hall either through a bond issue or from General Revenue Funds, seconded
by Ardelle Berthe and motion carried.
Wally Potter moved to accept the budget as proposed, seconded by Jear.~e
Beaudette and motion carried.
Jeanne Beaudette moved that the three posting places remain the same,
namely: Town Hall, Lone Oak Tree and Applebaum's, secOl'lded by Donald Kr.:ight
and motion carried.
Robert Tuttle moved that the Annual Meeting next year start at 8:15 P.M.
seconded by Ruth Smith. Discussion followed. Jeanne Beaudette moved that
this be amended so that the Annual Meeting would start at 8:30 p. M., seconded
by Herbert Polzin, and the amendment was voted on and carried. The motion
8S amended was voted on and passed.
Jan Marien moved to reinstitute the resolution as passed at the 1965
Annual Meeting in regard to salaries of Clerk and Supervisors and if this
be approved by the State Legislature that the salaries be raised as
follows: Chairman - $115.00 per month, Supervisor - $150 per month and
Clerk $150 per month, seconded by William Miller and motion carried.
Mrs. McRae inquired as to the present status of Yankee Doodle Roa4.
Mr. John Klein gave a report to date on this.
Richard Thorpe, Chairman of the Park Board next reported on the
activities of the Park Board for the past year explaining the need ~1O
to 15 acre playground -parks and larger parks. He stated that a 1JoDil.l.ssue

would be necessary to purchase land and felt that $200,000.00 would be
needed. This could either be for 25 or 30 years and would cost approximately
$4.80 on a $15,000.00 house for 25 years or $3.60 for 30 years. He also
explained what work had been done on the parks in the Cedar Grove area during
the past year.
C. F. Tilstra moved to recommend that the Board expedite the Park
Boards request for acquisition of park land by calling for a referendum
and bond issue, seconded by William Miller. Discussion followed. Donald
Knight amended the motion so that prior to any election being called the
Board would have a Public Hearing to submit the necessary information to the
voters, motion seconded by Marge Shadduck. The amendment was voted on and
carried. The motion as amended was voted on and passed.
Mrs. Ruth Smith moved that in order to protect Eagan Boundaries and
give us an opportunity to consider the possibility of having Municipal Liquor
that the Eagan Board appoint a committee to study the advisability of
Incorporation of Eagan Township, seconded by Mr. Black. Jan Marien moved
that the motion be amended so that the committee be composed of people from
the three precincts equally, seconded by Donald Knight and the amendment
was voted on and passed. The orlalnal motion as amended was voted on and
passed.
There being no further business, William Miller moved that the meeting
be adjourned, seconded by Donald VanEngen and the meeting adjourned at
11:15 p. M.
