MINUtES OF A REGULlIR MEETING OF THE B01JU> OF SUPERVISORS
BAGAN 'rCMNSHIP, DAKOTA COUNtY; MINNESOTA
March 5, 1968
A regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Eagan TowbshiP. Dakota
County, Minnesota was held at the town hall at 7;00 o'clock p. m. on March 5,
1968 at which all members were present.
The Board first ~t with members of the C~1ttee to Study the Meritis
of Incorporating as a Village or Remaining a township. After dl&cussing the
proposed report prepared by the Committee for submission to the electors at
-the annual meeting on March 12, 1968, the Board thanked the Committee for
its work and suggested that copies of the report be mimeographed for
distribution at the annual meeting.
At 8;00 p. m. the regular meeting commenced. The minutes of the previous
meeting were approved as submitted.
Fire Chief William Schultz appeared concerning certain ~tters relative
to the fire department. He submitted a list of officers elected by members
of the fire department on February 26, 1968 as follows: Chief William
Schultz; Assistant Chief Jerome Adam; Assistant Chief Maynard Klang; Secretary
Thomas Myers; Treasurer Mac Carll. Upon motion by Chairman Klein, seconded by
Supervisor Schwanz, it was RESOLVED that the said officers be, and mreby are,
accepted as the officers of the fire department for the succeeding year.
Chief Schultz also presented cer~ain proposed pia" and specifications
for a new fire truck which were reViewed by the Board.
Mr. Arnold A. Carlson ~ppeared on behalf of his application for ~pproval
of pre1~inary plat coverl~g 50.4 acres in part of the ,N. B. 1/4 of Sectio~ 28
near Highway #30 aad Pilot KJloO Road. Upon motion by Supervisor Rahn'. seCOnded
by Chairman Klein, it was BISO~VBD that a public hearing co~cerning the approval
of the preliminary plat be scheduled for March 19, 1968 s.t 8:00 p. m. at the
towh ball, Qove~ng Bvers~een Park Additlon to CarlsOD Acres.

Mr. Rancone and Mr. Jean Parranto appeared on behalf of tbe Pizza Hut,
Inc. for a building permit for a restaurant building in Cedarvale Shopping
Center. It waS noted the Planning Committee recommended approval. It was
further noted there w~ld be separate sections divided by the kitchen area
for minors where no 3.2 beer would be served. Mr. Rancone also presented an
application for 3.2 beer license which was being forwarded to the Town Board
from Dakota County. It was further noted that Mr. Rancone would hold the
license individually~ He stated that during peak hours there would be
security at the dOOr and appropriate signs to designate the adult only areS4
Upon motion by Sup$rvisor Rahn, seconde4 by Chairman Klein, it was RESOLVED
that said building permit application be, and hereby is, accepted subject to
approval of the plans and specifications by the town engineer including
stamping by a local architect aud further submission of an appropriate application.
Upon further motion by Supervi.sor Rahn, seconded by Supervisor Schwanz it was
RESOLVED that said 3.2 beer license, be. and hereby is, granted.
Mr. Dwane Greenwalt, 2057 Flint Lane appeared on behalf of certain residents
in the ares of Carnelian Lane and Flint Lane concerning the model home sign
placed by Jandric Homes on Cedar AVenue. He indicated that a good deal of
traffic was being generated on Carnelian Lane and Flint Lane because of the
model homes across Rahn ROad in Cedar Grove No.5. Upon motion made and
seconded it was RESOLVED ,that the town attorney be, and he hereby is, directed
to write to Jandric Homes suggesting that a new route other than Carnelian
Lane be used and that the model home sign be moved possibly down near Beau de
Rue Drive so that the traffic would be routed up the extension of Rahn Road.
Upon motion by Supervisor Schwanz, seconded by Supervisor Rahn, it was
RESOLVED that Weierke Tr8nching Company be, and it hereby is, granted a license
aed its bond approved for installation of outside water and sewer connections
only in Eagan Township.

The Board further discussed the possibility of some type of joint venture
with Dakota County concerning the improvement of Cliff Road and also the
possibility of assessment of the abutting property.
Upon motion by Supervisor Schwan~, seconded by Supervisor Rahn it was
RESOLVED that certain bills passed by the 1967 Minnesota Legislature applicable
only to EagaD Township be, and hereby are, approved and adopted as legislation
applicable to the township. as follows:
(1) Chapter 332, Minnesota Session Laws granting urban trucks the right
to be driven in the township without a special urban license for repair
purposes only and to permit the trucks to be driven through the township.
(2) Chapter 405 MSL relative to salaries of the Eagan town Board of
Supervisors and Eagan Clerk.
(3) Chapter 684 MSL granting Eagan Township the right to franchise
and regulate public utilities persuaDt to H.S.A. 300.03 to 300.05.
Upon motion all bills submitted were ordered paid.
Upon motion the meeting adjo~rned at 12:30 p. m.
