EAGAN TO'vJNSHIP, DAKOTA COUNTY, MINNESOTA
September ~+, 1969
A special meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Eagan Township,
Dakota County, Minnesota was held at the Eagan Town Hall at 7:00 P.M.
September ~+, 1969 at which all members were present. Chairman Klein
presided.
Police Chief Martin DesLauriers and Officer Poppler were present,
Officer Poppler representing the patrolmen. He stated that the men were
asking a revision of their present salaries to ~'°6~0 - 650 per month starting
salary with progressive raises to y6825 top pay after 3 years. Presently
it is x625 to X725. They also requested longevity at 2~;$ at 5 years,
2~ after 10, and 2~~ after 15, 11 paid holidays and overtime after ~+0
hours per week of 12 times straight time.
Chairman Klein stated that he felt present wages were a little higher
than the neighboring communities with the exception of Burnsville and that
the Board would adjust salaries accordingly, however, because of the fact
that our records were not yet back from the auditor we were not in a
position to act on their request at the present time.
Police Chief DesLauriers stated that they presently have one part-time
patrolman and 6 full-time. He requested another full time patrolman and
also that Officer Brule be allowed to go on full-time. He also requested
that he be allowed to purchase the leased car for approximately X1400 which
would last approximately 1 years as the third car, and a 30 watt base
radio for the hall at approximately X270.00.
Fire Chief 1nTm. Schultz appeared relative to the radios for the Fire
Department. It would cost approximately X404 per month on a 5 year lease and
X323 per month on a 7 year lease and at the end of that period it would be
owned by the Town. The Board stated they would request the Town Attorney
to check into the legality of leasing on this basis.
Supt. William Branch appeared relative to Public Works Dept. business.
He stated that David Linnerson resigned as of Sept. 12th, and he would need
a replacement for him. He said he could use- two additional men but it
would be too difficult to train more than two men at a time. Therefore,
he was requesting only one additional man at this time. He also requested
raises for Marvin Wenzel and Robert Shockley plus a uniform allowance for
all the men of approximately $100 per year. The Clerk was authorized to
advertise for maintenance men, and no other action was taken on the other
requests at the present time.

Don Knight and Tom Monahan, representatives of Valley View Water-
works Co., appeared relative to the buy-out of the system. They felt a
fair price for the system would be X21,500, not including the lot or
building. No action was taken.
Upon motion of Chairman Klein, second of Supervisor Rahn, it was
RESOLVED that an off sale beer license be approved for the Spruce I~iotel.
Upon motion of Chairman Klein, second of Supervisor Uselmann, it was
RESOLVED that Change Order No. E1 in the amount of X82.00 be approved in the
Electrical Contract for the Town Hall and that the fir al bill be approved
for Kostka Electric in the amount of X982.00 - Town Hall and 9629~+.0~+ for Fire
Hall.
NIr. Gerber Hatteberg, 1033 McKee Street requested a variance on
street side set back on First St. The Board had viewed the site
previously. Upon motion of Chairman Klein, seconded by Supervisor
Uselmann, aye Supervisor Rahn, it wa.s RESOLVED that a variance be allowed
for garage construction and the set-back from First St. be granted at 15'.
Upon motion the bills as presented were ordered paid.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
