All members were present with the exception of Marble. The minutes
of the previous meeting were approved as distributed.
The application of High-Site, Zne. for building permit to construct
apartment buildings in Effress Addition on Pilot I:nob Road was stricken for lack
of appearance.
Mr. Muskie, tir. Tansey and t1r. Cooperman appeared on behalf of the
application of DGM Associates for approval of plan layout and preliminary plat
approval covering property in Section 9, North of Yankee Doodle Road and East
of Coachman Road. The matter had first been heard at the regular 3anuary 1971
meeting. Zt was noted that the area included 234 units with 90 two-bedroom
unite, 138 sue-bedroom units and 6 efficiency apartments, on a 15 plus acre
parcel. There would be 4G8 parking spaces.
The applicants indicated they would comply with the current park
ordinance dedication requirements. The Planning Committee discussed the
[3rdinance 6 requirement that there be a 100 foot setback from any building to
the organized recreation area, and recognized that a variance would be required
under the plan as proposed. After discussion, upon motion by Christenson,
seconded by Rydrych it was RESOLVED that the Planning Committee recommend ap-
proval of the application for plan layout and preliminary plat approval and
recommend approval of the variance from the 1fl0 foot setback requirement from
the organized recreational area. All members voted in favor.
Mr. Bryce Bell and others appeared informally with a proposed plan
for condominium development on County Road ~~26 near Lemay Lake. It was noted
that the property was formerly under the name of Investors Communication Corp.
The proposal included two 84•unit_bt~;tldings and 40 townhouses with the townhouse:'
on the West adjoining Popler's Ramesteads. The developer's name was Equity
Construction Corporation, 1606 Cargill Building, Irinneapolis. Questions included
how much of the area would be under the lake, the 100 foot setback requirement
from organized recreational areas acid whether there is sufficient organized
recreation area in the proposal. No action was taken on the matter.
Roger Weierke appeared on behalf of the application of Weierke
Trenching Co. for a special use permit on property owned by the Weierl:es for
sale of boats, and motors on a year-round basis. Mr, Weierke indicated that
all boats would be under cover and that there would be no outside displays.
After discussion, upon motion by Wachter, seconded by Christenson, it was
recommended that the application be approved. All members voted in favor.
Mr. K. Schumacher and Mr. i~orrison, architects, appeared on behalf of
the application of Rothschild Development Company, Inc. and Fox Ridge Develop-
went Co. to rezone from R-6, t•Iulti-Family, to C-2, Heavy Commercial, approxi-
mately 5 acres North of Yankee Doodle Road and tdest of Coachman Road for a
small area stropping center. It was recommended that the parking be on the North
of the buildings end that the ceater be planned for local patronage primarily.
It was recommended against a filling station directly to the East of Coachman
Road, and North of Yankee Doodle Road because this parcel is too small for that
use. It was further suggested that a walkway to the shopping center from three
directions be oriented toc~ard the shopping center. Upon motion duly made and
seconded, it was recommended that the concept be approved but that no recom-
mendation be made on the application for rezoning at the present time.
Upon motion the meeting adjourned.
