Cedar Grove - The Dakota County Tribune described Cedar Grove as a
$30 million dollar community of 2000 homes with central water, gas, and
sewer, along with playground areas and two shopping centers. Emil
Jandric was the developer. He purchased 320 acres with options to buy
an additional 1000 acres. The homes ranged in price from $12,600 to
$16,900 for a three-bedroom home.
The Cedar Grove Utility Association operated the water and sewer
system for several years before the Township bought it and incorporated
it in with Eagan utilities.
Cedar Grove postal service. Neither the post office nor the town was
ready for such a large residential development in terms of providing for
postal delivery. Consequently the post office set up a line of boxes for
new residents along Cedar (now Nicols) near Highway 13. A postal
worker had 60 boxes at one Cedar Grove location.
