I agree with you from the citizen's standpoint that everything fell in line in a satisfactory time frame from the City of Eagan and in the future, this department will acknowledge a complaint even though it is not this departments responsibility. After investigation, if it is found to be the responsibility of another department or division, we will forward the information to that department or division, turning it over to them for their response. The City of Eagan does not have an ordinance governing installation of sod and landscaping; however we do encourage developers and contractors to communicate a time schedule to homeowners and subcontractors regarding final grading, sodding, call backs, etc. Unfortunately, scheduling may not always be to our liking as other scheduling conflicts do arise, especially in the building industry. Mr. Scott Oakes, Frontier Midwest Homes, was advised there was a problem with the grade of your neighbor's lot. He contacted the City's Engineering Department to review and approve final drainage to eliminate water pocketing in yards. Mr. Oakes has indicated that changes in their policies have been made and they will continue to try and improve communications with employees, subcontractors and homeowners. First let me tell you that I find this rather hypoctrical coming from a company which to my knowledge has never had a satisfied customer in my development nor has ever indicted one hint of concern over their customer's satisfaction. Secondly I do sincerely hope that you take my suggestions to heart and actually carry through with them, however, if your company follows true to form this will just become another piece of garbage. Although this is a list of suggestions, I want to bring to your attention that I am sending a copy of this letter to the Better Business Bureau and the City of Eagan office of building permits. 1. Follow through with the promises that you make in your sales pitch and in your contactural agreements. Your agents sure know how to lie, which is what you pay them to do. This is about the only thing I can say you do well! 2. Never lie to your customer, you will find that people will accept a delay or an error much better if you don't try to lie about it, cover up or try to blame them in some way for your errors. I could get real specific about the HORROR stories I have heard from other home owners, but I am quite sure that they have already communicated them to you, and quite obviously by their continued dissatisfaction you have not done anything about them. However, I am more than willing to provide to the City of Eagan and the Better Business Bureau a list of people who I have spoken with which are unhappy with your performance. 3. COMMUNICATE with your clients. Which no one in your orginization has ever bothered to do with us. Return phone calls promptly and if an answer can not be given immediately a one day turnaround is expected. This is the general practice in the real business world. In my personal experience, I would have greatly appreciated not coming home Monday July 7th to find 5 feet of my sod which I put down, totally destroyed by your company. This is the point at which we came in contact with you. **Please note that in your conversation with my husband of Wednesday July 9th you had indicated that our sod would be replaced by July 21, 1989. If this is not done we will begin legal proceedings, and I do realize that this probably doesn't worry you one bit as I do know that you have been sued more than once, but you are so dueay informed. Not that you care, but I work for one of the largest insurance companies in the nation and have at my disposal a wealth of legal advice that will cost me nothing. e 4. ~1= 4. VALUE your customers. _ It is my observation that you care nothing about your home buyers once they have signed the purchase agreement. Actually quite to the contrary you treat them like dirt! People are giving you sums of $90,000.00 and up and expect to be treated like you appreciate their business. When they have a problem or something which needs repair, don't treat them like it is a chore for you to help or that their basement flooded is a trivial problem or even insinuate that it is their fault, FIX it, and Fix it fast and properly. I have heard ftm more than one of your workers and contractors that your "CAll Backs" are your biggest problem. Obviously if your employees are aware of this, you do not care, as the dissatisfaction continues to mulitply. I listen to your radio ad and laugh out loud. I would never recommend your company to a friend or for that matter an enemy. I have actually discouraged a prospective home buyer from signing with you because had I not this friend would no longer be a friend! Again, it is my experience that many other of your home owners share the same sentiment. Should you actually read this letter and wish to speak again with me or my husband we will gladly do so. Although, I don't feel that we OWE you anything you already have 87,000.00 of our money and you have provided us with nothing but aggravation and frustration.
