CITY ADMINISTRATOR This letter is to follow up on the conversations we have had over the past few weeks
regarding the building elevations for the Homestead Village development. As you
know, the Homestead Village subdivision is zoned PD, Planned Development, and
development of the property is governed by a Planned Development Agreement.
Building elevations are one of the approved plans set forth in the PD Agreement.
Brandl Anderson Homes recently purchased this development and approached the
MUNICIPAL CENTER City with some modifications to the approved building elevations. As outlined in
3830 Pilot Knob Road your letter dated November 7, 2005, the proposed changes include:

In addition, we discussed the windows on the rear elevations. Brandl Anderson

Lastly, we discussed the trim framing the side and rear elevation windows. The City
anticipated a wide trim framing the windows. Architecturally, double hung windows
demand a wider trim band to visually frame and highlight the window. The
approved plans submitted by Manley call out a 6" trim on the front elevations, and

landscaping of the site will compliment the side and rear elevations and the 6" trim
on side and rear elevations is a costly element not supported by consumers.
Based on the conversation we had last week, the City agreed to the narrower 1" trim
for the side and rear elevations, provided efforts are made to use a contrasting color
to the siding which will highlight and enhance the appearance of the windows. You
indicated that Brandl Anderson will be utilizing a white trim to match the finish on
the window sashes so as to visually enhance the size of the windows. The City
agrees that this will be acceptable on the side and rear elevations. The 6" trim is still
required on the front elevations.

I ant writing this letter to request an extension on the expiration date of the temlxirary
certificate of occupancy issued for 4894 Brooklyn lane in Hagan. 'the reason that we
received a temporary certificate of occupancy is because at the time of the final
inspection, the deck on the back of the home was not supported as shown in the approved
plans. The patio door leading to the deck was then blocked so the door to the deck will
not open until the deck is fixed. My office is currently drawing an alternative detail lbr
the support on the deck which will be submitted to the city of Eagan By Tuesday January
16"'- I am hoping that we can extend the expiration date on the .C.0 until the detail
being submitted is approved by the city of Eagan and so we have adequate fvnc to
perlbrm the measures and have the repairs inspected by the City of L•'agan.
