in residential neighborhoods. Mayor Geagan, our City Council, and City staff appreciate

timely and effective manner.

In response to your initial complaint via phone on October 29, 2003 to Code Enforcement
Technician Mary Granley, a site inspection was conducted of the property at 4049
Blackhawk Road. Some storage of brush and yard waste was noted in violation of City
Municipal Center: Code. A letter was sent to the property owner on October 30, 2003 requesting removal of
3830 Pilot Knob Road the items by November 7, 2003. The site will be reinspected after that date.

side of your home. The boat, pop-up camper, and snowmobile stored in the rear and side

the standards for outdoor storage on residential property is currently under study by the
City Council and will be discussed in detail after the first of the year.
City Code cannot regulate whether property is owner occupied or rented, but does restrict

together as one housekeeping unit. If the home is divided into separate housekeeping
units by closing off one area from another by way of a locked door, and/or adding
separate kitchen and cooking facilities, the character of the home has been changed from
a single family dwelling unit into a multiple family dwelling unit, and would be in
violation of City Code.
Many other issues may affect a neighborhood's aesthetics. Conditions such as peeling
paint, broken windows, parking vehicles on the grass, storing garbage cans in front of the
front line of the home, or storing refuse items in the yard or alongside the garage can be
addressed with the owner through enforcement of the City Code. Please contact Code

5698) to report these types of violations, and they will be addressed immediately.
