RE: Restoration of Disturbed Lawn Area
Dear Ms. Poppler:
The City Administrator has referred your letter of April 20th to
my attention for review and comment. Your letter addressed several
concerns that I would like to specifically respond to.
In regards to the lawn restoration and repair, the city will ensure
that your lawn is properly restored to an equal or better
condition. This may require that that portion of your yard be
resodded. I have referred this to our Utility Maintenance Division
to the attention of Mr. Paul Heuer, Utility Maintenance Supervisor
(454-5220) with the request that this be repaired as soon as
possible.
In relationship to the placement of various traffic control and
advisory signs, there are different criteria that must be met for
specific signs. Normally, speed limit signs are posted at
locations where a change in the speed limit has occurred. An
example is when an individual is travelling on a 40 MPH street and
turns onto a local street where the speed has been reduced to 30
MPH. Once they are travelling on this road, they are to assume
that the speed limit remains the same as posted at the entrance
unless they are specifically advised to the contrary. This
eliminates the expense and intrusion on the neighborhood aesthetics
of having to place numerous extra signs throughout the entire City.
"Slow Children" or "Children Playing" or other similar signs are
reserved for installation in areas where significant children are
anticipated to congregate at any given time such as school yards,
playgrounds, etc. While the majority of Eagan is residential
property with many children living along almost every street, the
indiscriminate placement of these signs will diminish the
importance and respect from the motorists and compromise its
intended safety purposes.

that your voice or opinion is relevant and is being heard.
However, many times we cannot respond to all the numerous requests
received in a positive manner that the resident would hope for.
