This plan calls for the complete removal of only one of these significant trees, a silver maple (BDH 12) located in front of the proposed garage entrance. Another silver maple (BDH of 24), located between the proposed house and townhouse at 1167 Timber shore Lane, lies within the conservation easement as filed with Dakota County Doc # 2413730. It was determined by the City Council that this tree receive special care during the construction process. The following measures will be taken to ensure the viability of this tree: 1) The ground around the tree extending from the trunk of the tree to the edge of the drip line on the south side will be covered with a thick cover of mulch (minimum 6" thick). 2) The branches that overhang the construction site will be trimmed back to avoid damage to the tree. 3) A temporary fence (silt or similar) will be installed along the south edge of the conservation easement. This work will be performed by Roggenbuck Tree Care, Lakeville, MN. G:IFORMS/Building Permit Application Rev. 11-26-04 To: City of Eagan Department of Building Inspection From: Charlie Hanf Date: November 14, 2006 Subject: Approval of Overall House Insulation 3698 Denmark Ave. Permit # EA 074051 Reason for Request: We have designed this house to be very energy efficient. The walls are ICF to the rafters (R27), the windows and sliding doors are Low E argon and the garage is 2x6 framed and insulated (R19). The ceilings of the house and garage will be insulated to R50. It was always our intention to provide some heat to the garage. Our first plan was to add heating coils into the concrete floor as part of the whole house radiant heating system but our contractor said this would cause problems. So I am proposing to use the heat that escapes from the heated room below the garage to heat the garage floor (similar to radiant heating). Mr. Bruce Nelson, MN Department of Commerce, Dept of Energy has reviewed my plan. He can be reached at (651) 297-2313. 1 am submitting a revised REScheck Compliance Certificate to show that the overall structure is well within the State energy code. Specific Request We want to insulate the ceiling of the heated space below the garage with 2 inch thick Corning brand foam board glued directly to the concrete ceiling. This would provide R10 insulation. The ceiling would then be firred out, a vapor barrier added and a 5/8" sheetfock covered. Submitted Charlie HE 3702 Deni (612) 386- Goal Maintain the temperature in the garage at approximately 25 OF when the temperature outdoors is 0 oF. This will be accomplished by controlling the amount of heat flowing from the heated room below the garage with a predetermined amount of insulation. Design Conditions The sum of all heat flows into the garage will equal the sum of all heat flows out of the garage. Therefore if all variables in the heat flow equation can be determined it is possible to calculate the R-value of the insulation beneath the garage floor to achieve this goal. The surfaces common to the garage that will warm the garage are the floor and the walls common with the house. The surfaces that will cool the garage are the ceiling, walls to outside, garage door plus air infiltration. The equation used to determine the insulation value was: (Area floor) * (1/R-value floor) * (Temp Diff floor) + (Area ICF wall) * (1/R-value ICF wall)' (Temp Diff ICF wall) (Area ceiling) * (1/R-value ceiling) (Temp diff ceiling) + (Area 2 x 6 wall)' (1/R-value wall) * (Temp diff wall) + (Area garage door)' (1/R-value door) * (Temp diff door) + (Air infiltration rate) * (volume of garage) * (specific heat of air) * (Temp dill) (285) * (1/10) * (45.3) + (200) * (1/27) * (45.3) (462) * (1/50) * (24.7) + (352) * (1119) * (24.7) + (128) * (1/9) * (24.7) + (0.3) * (3700) * (0.019) *(24.7) Therefore, an insulation value of R10 in the ceiling below the garage should produce the design goal. tm eefs 7.-n??y e /2 BR,) ee Je4so.-t Permit # Permit Date REScheck Software Version 3.7.3 Compliance Certificate Project Title: New single family residential Report Date: 11/14/06 Data filename: Q1Program FileslCheck%REScheck13698 Denmark 11-7-06.rck Energy code: 2000 IECC Location: Eagan, Minnesota Construction Type: Single Family Glazing Area Percentage: 18% Heating Degree Days: 7981 Construction Site: Owner/Agent: Designer/Contractor: 3698 Denmark Ave. Charlie Hanf Charlie Hanf Eagan, MN 55123 self Four x Four Construction, Inc Permit # EA074051 3702 Denmark Ave. 3702 Denmark Ave Permit Date: 06/30/06 Eagan, MN 55123 Eagan, MN 55123 6514542649 6123865083 cahanf@comcast.net • cahanf@wmr st.net e Ceiling 1: Flat Ceiling or Scissor Truss: 1462 50.0 0.0 38 Wall 1: Insulated Concrete Forms: 1140 27.0 34 Window 1: Wood Frame:Double Pane with Low-E: 122 0.330 40 Door 2: Solid: 40 0.100 4 Door 1: Glass: 96 0.330 32 Ceiling 2: Flat Ceiling or Scissor Truss: 285 10.0 0.0 25 Wall 2: Wood Frame, 16" o.c.: 464 19.0 0.0 20 Door 3: Solid: 128 0.100 13 Wall 3: Insulated Concrete Forms: 324 27.0 7 Window 2: Wood Fmme:Double Pane with Low-E: 58 0.330 19 Door 4: Glass: 78 0.330 26 Basement Wall 1: Insulated Concrete Forms: 207 27.0 8 Basement Wall 2: Insulated Concrete Forms: 376 27.0 12 Basement Wall 3: Insulated Concrete Forms: 477 27.0 15 Heat Pump 1: Air Source: 12 HSPF, 18 SEER Compliance Statement: The proposed building design described here is consistent with the building plans, specifications, and other calculation ubm' ad with the permit application. April 10, 2007 Mr. Fred Hanson Wenzel Plumbing and Heating Inc. 1710 Alexander Road Eagan, MN 55121-1640 Re: 3698 Denmark Ave. (Hanf Property) Dear Mr. Hanson, In August 2006 your company installed a new sewer and water service for the new home under construction at 3698 Denmark Ave. As part of that installation you dug into the street to access the water and sewer mains. Now that we are nearly through the first freeze/thaw cycle since construction, we have discovered that the trench has experienced settlement to the extent that an unacceptable dip in the street has developed at the bituminous patch. As a result, I am requesting that you remedy this situation per the Right-of-Way Permit Specifications for Construction (Section 500.14 subd. g & h). One deviation from these specifications, we prefer that you wait until later this summer to do the work in order to give traffic more time to compact the trench area and hopefully avoid more settlement in the future. Please contact me with your proposed plan for repair and schedule. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at 651-675-5641 or dwestermaverna,cityofeaaan.com.
