This in reference to your concerns on the load condition of the above described
monopole, The EIA-222-E, 1981 Code allows a 25% reduction In wind pressure for
a monopole with ice loading. They allow this due to the low probability of an extreme
wind occurring simultaneously with an extreme Ice condition (see EIA, page 60,
attached), Also at an extreme wind speed, there Is enough tower movement to crack
Ice and allow it to fall off.
