Dear Ms. Heaver:
Subsequent to your concems, I made site visits to your home on May 12th and 13th, 2003 where I
observed water on the upper left portion of the southerly window in your lower level. This
observarion was made from inside your town home unit.
On Tuesday, May 13th, representatives from Wensmann Homes were on the site and had
removed siding to look at the flashing and sheathing.
Water above the lower window was apparently caused at the ternvnation of the drip cap above
that portion of the window where water was observed. It appears that back-pitching of the drip
edge, in conjuncrion with the end of the drip cap not draining to the face of the wall system,
allowed water to enter the window azea.
No wet sheathing was observed; however, there was slight staining below the large window in the
living room. It was not determined how long the stains had been present.
The window and deck were re-flashed in a method that appeus to be consistent with sound
construction practices.
In regazd to the remainder of the units in your associarion, I am aware of one other unit that
experienced water inhusion due to a cracked weld on a patio doorframe.
