The construction permits are requested to updating the space to provide a safe and private environment for the adolescents that will be living there. We consulted with Darrin Bramwell, Deputy Chief - Fire Marshall for the City of Eagan, and Dale Schoeppner, Chief Building Official for the City of Eagan on September 3, 2013 and they initially approved of the plan. • The home will include staff members on site and awake 24 hours per day. • The home will consist of four living areas to provide privacy and safety for the youth that will be living in this space. • Each space will have an entrance with a metal door with a window, and locking mechanism similar to those used in schools. The doors will remain unlocked unless protocols for staff dictate that they need to be locked. The doors can only be locked by pushing a wall mounted button while staff maintain visual contact with the living area through a window in the door. The door can never be locked without staff being present. In case of fire, all door locking mechanisms are automatically disabled to ensure safe exit from the house. The locking mechanism will be or similar to Locknetics MagForce 350+. • The fence variance is requested to include a six foot fence in part of the front yard. This is to provide a safe place for the youth to be outside, in addition to privacy for them. The house faces Cliff Road, which is an extremely busy road. The fence will be partially covered by trees and far away from the actu@l street. The fence is currently planned to be a4wmotV Ce, car wow . o match property and fit with neighborhood.
